Freeboot & E-71
« on: September 02, 2010, 10:18:00 AM »

I have a Falcon I'm JTAGing and I'm having a problem I can't seem to solve.  Regardless of what I try I either get an E-71 or nothing but power light.  What I did...

Dump NAND (I have a USB flasher, took 3 dumps all match)
3 bad blocks reported
Checking with degraded - block 7D@3FF, 369@3FD, 372@3FE (Notice the unusual sequence)
Remapped blocks
build freeboot image using command line (No errors)

Now here's where it starts to get weird - Flashing with XeLLous detects no bad blocks, but USB programmer reports 202 error at block 7D, no other blocks.  Remapping only block 7D to 3FF causes E-71 during logo right before ROL sequence completes.  Remapping 369 to 3FD or 3FE causes nothing but power light and XeLLous won't even boot. 372 seems not to be used in 9199 dash as it's blank in every falcon image I've check.  Original flash and XBR_8955 both work perfect.  I know it's not a bad flash, since I'm not only using USB but I've read-back and compared images I've flashed.  Anyone have any thoughts??

TIA

I got it.  Had to insert the actual bad blocks from the original image into the new image file.  Apparently the console did not recognized erased blocks as being remapped.
