1: This thread is close to 2 years old....

2: Search, there is a WOL script for XBMC

3: Or rather look, it is on the second page in this forum....

Wake Up Pc

Hey. Is it possible to wake up a computer from the xbox. All modern network cards support WOL (Wake On LAN). I'd love to sit in my livingroom, turning on my xbox, go into xbmp, run a program for starting up my pc (which, by the way, is placed in another room) and play music via smb.

there's a python script for this here:
http://gsd.di.uminho.pt/jpo/software/wakeo...o/wolpython.txt

but I'm too stupid to make it work from my xbox... help anyone..?

not just for laziness, but for my wife to finally be impressed by what the xbox can do..

Maybe you wanna try XBMC. Cause XBMP has full python support.

I take that you mean that xbmc has full python support.. but anyhow... I tried, but couldn't figure out how to activate python in xbmc and run a python script..

And i'm not hardcore enough to start using xbmc yet,  xbmp is buggy enough for me (even though i do find it the best thing that happened to xbox!).
It's going to be hard, but I think I'm gonna be able to wait until xbmc goes stable..

you can just imagine the smile on my face when i loaded up xmbc, ran the wolpython script and went down in the basement to find that my computer was turned on! Now I if I could just make myself configure xbmc to stream my music and movies..

I'll stop discussing this with myself now.. but if anyone knows how to do this in xbmp, I'd love to know..

There is no way to do it in XBMP with the python script, cause there is no python support in XBMP.
But if you start a thread in XBMP/C forum providing all infos about WOL there is fair chnace that a dev will pick it up and code it into XBMP/C. :)
