Topic: Xbox Won't Boot Bios. Stuck At Xboxscreen (Read 131 times)

I was playing Splinter cell 2 last night off the HD. I loaded the game and heard a pop. It might havce been my T.V as it often makes noises, but I'm not sure.
I tried to load my gamesave data and it said it was corrupt. I tried to loada level then my HD span down and my xbox started to frag with the Xecutor error screen.

I turned it off quickly. Smelt for burning. There was none. I switched it on using the power button 5 mins later. It loaded my Dash as normal. Wondered what it was.

I left it for about 1/2 hour while i checked these forums about the error. I found nothing. I tried to turn it on with the power button and it loads the xbox screen audio and video. It freezes where it is suppose to put the name of my bios. It was a solid green all the time.

I take my box apart and check my chip. I checked my D0, I tried to boot with out the HD, the DVd drive. Different combinations.

All the time the light was green.

There is power to my board as I can see my mod chip lights and offcorse the power light is on which is connected to the board.

Anyway. I took my board out and checked for burn marks or any blown chips. I found none. I checked my P.S.U for loose wires or burned componants. There was none. I put it back together. I tied to turn my xbox on with no fan no Hd and no DVD drive to test the board. I cna hear the CPU working so I know that hasen't fried. I only had it on for 5 secs by the way. Don't want it blowing up on me now do I.
I know the video chip is working as I have had the flubber screen and I know the P.S.U is working as I have power.

I gave up last night and I had a dream, well realy a memory about a guy who could only boot his xbox using the eject button but not the power button. So This morning I tried to boot my xbox using the eject button and it load my bios strait away. I have only tried my xecutor bios and not my onbard M$ bios yet.

What has broken/blown/fied/packed in?

How do I sort it. Someting has gone wrong here. Thanks for any help.

Please help. I don't dare to turn on my box incase soemthing blows. I need to fix this. Someone must know.

Hi , i have the SAME PROBLEM whit a pal 1.4 xbox ................. a new xbox ......... when the box boot-up you hear a strange sound on dvdrom ? in my case the problem is a philips drive which doesn't catch-up with a new hard drive.
Try to change a dvdrom ........................

Update - I put in my old Hd and I got it to boot. Barely. I then put in my new Hd again.

It will boot at random, but the flubber screen is all jerky and it take ages for it to load the bios and the dash off my HD.

Whats more worrying is that my xbox will now not turn off. I press the power switch. My status light goes off but the xbox satays on. I have to yank out the cord.

Please help I need to know if my xbox can be saved.

Why is this forums so dead. i need help. Surely someone must know what has happened, what has caused it and how to fix it?
Something similar happened to someone else, but he had only 1 reply so I don't know what happend only that it may have been caused by the molex adapter.
Please help. I'm begging you, please.

Am I understanding you correctly that if you turn on the xbox via the eject button, everything is ok, but if you turn it on via the power button, you have problems?

Well, my guess would be that it is your dvd drive. I know that if you disconnect it, it does what you say (jerky flubber and the audio and video aren't together). Try unplugging your dvdrom and booting and see if it will at least load your dash. The other problem could be that your HD is corrupt or just died. Oh yeah, if you have a friend with a box, try using his dvdrom and see if that fixes it.

No, it doen't load only from the eject button now. It it jurky with my old HD now too. It loads from either the eject or power button at random now. When either the DVD drive or the HD is removered or even both the xbox is suppose the frag right? Well mine doesn't it just stays at that jerky flubber screen with the xbox writing. No fragging, no error message and no loaded bios. I've tried everything what is it? If I don't know what cause it what is actually broken on it I can't repair it or stop it from happening again.

Since I've joined the modding scene I've seen newb and experts alike mod their boxes, install new Hd and some repair broken traces on theit motherboard.
I am the only one out of the whole frigin' lot of them that has an xbox that has just got up and died!

It was all going so well until this happened. I will just have to wait untill this topic catches the eye of some techincal minded whizz that will manage to sort it for me.

I am no wizz and my reply probably will not help, except for the bumpage.

It sounds as if something on the IDE buss may have blown.

Did you check the DVD / HD for burned components?

I believe you should be able to boot to the error screen (past the flubber) with no devices IDE devices attached?... someone please verify.

Another far off suggestion: I would also check the +12V Power supply output with a meter. (careful..dangerous voltages present on PS when plugged in- hurts too believe me, I KNOW

)

make sure master/slave is set up right?

sounds like cd rom is conflicting with HD to me...

Well I removed the Molex and put in my old HD. Everything seems to be running great. It turns on/off with no problem. However If either the HD or DVD is removed it will not load the bios and will defenatly not frag.
If there is a problem with the IDE buss the how do I fix it.

Also I don't have a metre so how do i know if my P.S.U is gone?

I have found no burned componants.

It is now not classed as broken jsut not working correctly. So what next to diognose the problem? Thanks.

Here are my combos.

Stock HD, DVD drive, bios loads.
Stock HD, no DVD drive, bios loads
No HD, DVD drive, slow flubber, no bios loads
New HD, DVD drive, slow flubber, bios load
New HD, no DVD drive slow flubber, bios doesn'r load
no Hd, no DVD, no bios loads

And with all this my xbox doesn't FRAG.

What the hell is going on?
