Blasteroids-x
« on: June 28, 2003, 02:09:00 PM »

Hi,

I'm the author of Blasteroids-X, and I was wondering if anyone's given it a go yet.

I'd like to hear any feedback (provided it's at least partially constuctive  blink.gif ) and while Blasteroids is probably final, I'll definitely take comments on board for my next project.

Specifically, what did people think about the controls, 2-player mode, and physics in-game?

Cheers,
MorseKode.

Ah, thanks.  It's stuff like this that makes it all worthwhile!

Yes, the ship can be quite hard to control at first.  You usually only need a small nudge of the analogs to move out of the way of an incoming asteroid, or alien bullet.

Sorry you don't like the music...  unsure.gif  you can always turn it off.

I love it...the music is great too...but if you don't like it just put your own song in the folder and rename it to the name of the normal one!

very nice.  the only thing I don't like is the red font for the title screen.  It's too hard to read.  otherwise, it plays real good.  I only played for a few minutes.  things started getting hectic on level 4!

Haha, yes I'm certainly not much of an artist.  But sometimes you just need to knock up graphics extra-quick to test things out.

If anyone out there is a photoshop/3d max wizard, I'd love to hear from you!

As for the custom xfg and xfs files - I don't want anyone to hack my game, but I willl tell you there's no fancy encrpytion involved.   wink.gif

The text is a little hard to read(lucky that is no fancy encryption on the xfg's wink.gif ), apart from that it's a good game smile.gif

This game is one of the best homebrews I've seen.
A few things could make it better.

1 The forward and backward movement is hard to control, and the ship doesn't slow down by itself, so it's hard to stop moving.
2 Shields or hyper-space would be nice, as the UFO is too accurate.
3 Remember the last name entered for hi-scores.
4 The default.xbe isn't retail patched.

The movement of the rocks are good, and the ship fires good also. You used the rumble some, but not when the ship blows up.

I like this game for the most part, thanks MorseKode, it shows some good game making talent.

I must agree, the menu font totally sucks balls, its really hard to read. But other than that the game is shit hot, i love it!

That's weird, we tested it in NTSC, PAL-50 and PAL-60 and it ran in all three video modes.

One thing we didn't do was run xbepatch on it, which means it may be incompatible with your modchip/bios.  Try running xbepatch yourself on default.xbe, it may fix the problem.
