Can I Uncripple A Jasper 360 To Use A Media Extender?

Yes you can. Media Center is built into the 360's dashboard. All the corruption does is prevent it from working properly.

You can still use it as a Media Center Extender with 1 caveat.  You will not be able to play avi's (DivX codec), unless you use an app to transcode them on the media center.  So basically you're limited to wmv's and dvr-ms files, although I believe Win 7 Media Center will automatically transcode matroska files but I'm not positive.  I know all the mkv's I try to watch on the extender render like crap.

Can I uncripple a Jasper 360 so that I can use it as a Media Extender?

I did NOT previously enable/download the Media Extender functionality...

You will REALLY long for the OMU.
If you want to try transcoding on the fly and you have the CPU power I suggest TVERSITY.

Or re encode all you avi and divx into win movies.
