Networking 2 Xboxs With A Crossover Cable?

If this is in the wrong forum please move, thanks :D!

I was trying to connect two Xboxs the other day wtih a crossover cable and had no luck at all.  I have pretty limited experience with networking but have had zero problems having my Xbox or others connected to my router.  The problem is that there is no router available for me to connect these Xboxs too, so I need to connect them to each other using my newly purchased crossover cable, which I bought solely for this purpose.

From what I understood this was a pretty basic process but I had no luck with one Xbox "seeing" the other.  I'd be interested in knowing if anybody has had any success doing this and what their network settings in Evox.ini looked like.  I would imagine that is where my problem is because like I said before networking is not my strong suit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, just use Xtoolbox.   This neat little app will transfer files between two xbox's pretty quickly.  I usually get 7mbps transfer rate.  it's really easy to set up and use with just a standard crossover cable.

That is what I tried using to no avail.

I connected one Xbox to the other with a crossover cable that I just bought from the store.  I then click "Another Xbox" in Xtoolbox and it times out.  I'm not sure what both Xboxs need to be doing for this to be happening or how my Evox.ini should be setup......and that is what I am asking wink.gif.

When I tried to connect I had the one box sitting at the dash and the other running Xtooldbox.

Yer you will still need to adjust the IP:

As in are they both on the same IP setting? Change the last number of the IP on one of the xbox's. Do this in the .ini file.

Hope this helps.
