Problem With Reading My Nand...
« on: February 17, 2010, 07:43:00 PM »

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to follow this great guide : http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=698328
and what i've done for now is only LPT section according to this : http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=691873
I'm unable to get my pc (with a real LPT port set to SPP) to detect the nand chip with nandpro2.d Do I need the JTAG solder to dump the nand?
Also, my power supply led is red.. Does it mean I got to check my soldering? Is my board dead? I'm very confused with this!

Problem With Reading My Nand...

Update!

I've resolved one of my problem, I removed the solder residue that caused the
red light on my power supply. Now when I power up the console, the fan speed
increase dramatically to full speed and stay like this.... When I try to read the nand
in Nand Pro, only for the first time, sending the command makes the xbox power up
for about 3-5 seconds and then stop. I've try to send the command numerous times,
and always get "No flash chip detected". I've enabled plug and play in LPT device in my
device manager and tryed about every bios setting for my LPT mode (ECC,SPP,etc..).
I'm wondering what I could check first, hope that I didnt kill my nand with my previous
problem :S Thx in advance to anyone that can help me with this!

I'd check your soldering again - the 360 shouldn't power up at all when trying to read the NAND.

Also are you using the resistors/switching diode?

It could be that your PC has an 'emulated' LPT port - I've got a PC here that has an LPT port, but won't work AT ALL with any version of NandPro.

And again, I'd start off by double checking that you've soldered correctly to the REAR of the DB-25 connector, then check your mobo soldering again. The 360 shouldn't power on at all during reading. If you've got a multimeter, check your cable, and you could check the power output of your LPT port to see if you need the resistors.
