Zephyr V2 Cb 4580 3 Red Ring After Xbr
« on: January 16, 2010, 11:17:00 PM »

Ok, so, i soldered up everything to the xbox. There is alot of circumstances that are different from a normal xbox.

1.) The via for the jtag got pulled up, so i went to the back alternate point, that got pulled out also. So i stripped the trace a bit and soldered to that. It appears like it worked. It pretty steady on there. So i dont think this is the problem, but might as well say it.

2.) For some reason the nand is reading/writing EXTREMELY slow, ive done 3 other jtag's and its taking about 2 or 3 times longer to dump. I was thinking this would be a bad solder point, so i resoldered all the lpt holes, and did 3 nand dumps. All 100% the same, so the points are good.

3.) The Zephyr has a CB of 4580, which for some reason some half the people on the internet think its exploitable half think its not.

4.) There are multiple posts about flashing a Falcon xbr on my zephyr. Here is one : http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=701330

So here comes the problem. Flashed my xbox with Zephyr xbr first, I loaded it up and it had about 30 seconds of green light in the middle, then 3 red lights. So i went ahead and wrote the falcon xbr on it, now it wont turn on at all, but it can still be detected in nandpro.

Right now i am reading my nand back to make sure that its 100% matching. If they are both matching, ill go ahead and reflash Zephyrs xbr back on it and check the 3 red light error(i forgot to check before i flashed falcons xbr)

So...any thoughts on whats going on? Could really use some help. Thanks

EDIT: Ok so dumped my nand...and theres a few spots that are 0000'd out that arnt suppose to be. So im re writing the nand. Is there any way to determine which blocks are 00'd out? that way i can just write those parts so it doesnt take 20 years to just write it.

can we get confirmation on his point, its something I have noticed and read many times as well:

"3.) The Zephyr has a CB of 4580, which for some reason some half the people on the internet think its exploitable half think its not."

I have a ZEPHYR myself at kernel 7363 which I took out of the XBL stream last February in an anticipation of the homebrew they were planning for it this year. I have not dumped the nand obviously since they are saying we do NOT have yet a working XBR flash for certain ZEPHYRS situations.  What exactly is that situation remains unclear.

There are six: CB bootloader values that are supposedly hackable on ZEPHYRS, but the most recent so called "hackable" CB bootloader value: 4580 might not load XBR or work properly and cause NAND corruption when flahsed with XBR-8955-3b and that is a concern to me and the tester above too.

What should the CB value of a ZEPHYR be if the kernel is 7363 and been out of the XBL stream since last february 2009 as per this kernel database link which states that 4580 is exploitable, but does say about latest ZEPHYR XBR compliance with bootloader's CB value: 4580?

As far as I've read, 4580 only appears on Zephyrs that have had the motherboard replaced by Microsoft to cure RRoD and are slightly different beasts to those that originally came off the production line, bit like the Opus to replace the Xenon, but in this case a Falcon that Zephyr hardware will attach too, only explanation that makes sense to me!

The 4580 had its status changed to exploitable only after a guy on xbh reported he mistakenly flashed his Zephyr with the Falcon xbr and found it worked, many guides haven't been updated since and of those that do most don't explain the need to use the other xbr.

damn, im in the exact same boat as you (well I thought my rrod on a 4580 zephyr was caused by a bad block within the first 50 blocks (block 45 I believe)). But I don't think its exploitable at this point

Do me a favor and flash falcon xbr on it and see if it works. Tell me the results afterwards please.

Went ahead and wrote the falcon xbr to my box and read it back and its 100% identical, yet no power...so that rumor is dead i guess, maybe it only works with xell. Idk, flashing zephyrs back on it now. Ill post back when i do. If it doesnt work ill try an old zephyr xbr and see what happens.

I abandoned it for now because of time, I'll try to flash the falcon one by the end of the weekend and see how it goes for me. Idk if my rrod is caused because 4580 is truely not exploitable, or if because not reading block 45 is screwing things up. I have so far flashed Zephyr XBR 3B to it and zephyr xell and both have rrod'd.

I had so many problems with my Zephyr...here is what I did

1) Get the Falcon (yes Falcon) Xell image for Cygnos from the usual places
2) Get the Zephyr XBR 3b from the usual places
3) Extract your KV and Config from your original nand
4) Inject them into the XBR nand
5) Extract the SMC from the Falcon Xell (nandpro xell.bin: -r16 SMC.bin 0 1)
6) Inject the SMC into the XBR nand (nandpro XBR.bin: -w16 SMC.bin 0 1)
7) Update the Cygnos to Firmware 1.03 beta 2 and use toolbox 1.08
8) Should be good to go...just make sure you flash it to the Cygnos and not the 360 nand (some weird issue with the !SWITCH command)

However...I think 4580 isn't exploitable, but good luck

4580 IS exploitable, I am using one with Falcon XBR as I type.  Search this forum's first couple pages for a thread about this.

The only problem is that I am not installing a cygnos on this board. And I completely agree on zephyrs having issue. This is my third or fourth one and every single one has been nothing but trouble. I don't know what the deal is.

Maybe try extracting the SMC out of the falcon XBR image and insert it into the zephyr XBR image along with your kv and config.

nandpro fxbr.bin: -r16 SMC.bin 0 1
nandpro zxbr.bin: -w16 SMC.bin 0 1

Xtract your kv with cyg software

load new zxbr in cyg software, tick the kv.bina nd send to cygnos

worked on 3 zephyr's I had with E-79 issues yesterday

I had the exact same issue, but with a falcon. Where the jumper wire is replace it with a 330 ohm resistor, you may need more or less resistance, so try to 330 ohms in series. I am positive this will work for you.
