Searched around at home found a different hard drive (I've got lots of hardware), and it worked perfectly.... Now I can play MGS2

So for the few that are still having issues try these things in the according order

1. put in orig HD and set the time then try the new HD
2. Zero out the entire new drive using xboxhdtool
3. if none of that works try a different bios.

My thing is why is this bios looking at the HD first. There should be no need for that at all. Unless it is strickly a time issue, then yes it would look for the orig dash.

yeah.. just unlock a friends old retail hard drive that he doesnt need anymore and stick it in your Upset xbox.  i just fixed a friend's xbox doing this...  I can't confirm which bios he was using unfortunately but it was a version 1.0 3944 xbox.
