How do you edit the name of an application or game?

I have some emulators on my HDD, and they come up with stupid names.  I know what they are, but other people who use my box don't.


For example.

My Sega Genesis emulator has come up as
DgenX

and my Mastersystem one is
XSms

How can I change them??

Edit your ini file:

Item "NAME HERE","f:\genesis\default.xbe"

i wanna know too. it's kinda annoying, and adding all the items take a long time if you have lots of appz/games

Open the xbe with any Hex Editor software.
Edit the string at 18Ch (2 bytes for each character)

Actually... It's not always there.  

The way to find it is to look at 0x110 and that'll give you the size of the header...  If you add 0xC bytes to it, you'll get the location of the unicode string.  I posted something about this in the Development forum a while back when I was trying to figure out how it worked.

No.  He means 2 bytes.  Two bits would only let us use four letters.  Unicode uses larger character values to be able to have a larger character set.  

A question:  As I don't own any Japanese games, do Japanese games use Japanese characters here?    I'll have to look at CXBFont to see if it really handles unicode strings.

I remember seeing something that does this in the "tools" section of x-s.

I would verify that for you if I was not lazy.
