The real question is : Can XBox 360 support USB HUBs ?  muhaha.gif
(rhetorical, it can since HD-DVD drive had an internal USB hub)

I take no credit for this, I found it in a XBH forum. Flashing XBR with Iflash:

"The tutorial (couldn't make it anymore noobish then this)

Things you need:
360 running Xell (ofcourse)
Gentoo Live V2 disc
an XBR image with your KV injected (ready to flash)
A USB drive with that xbr image and lflash.c
A USB mous & keyboard

01. Put Gentoo Live V2 disc in your 360 and bootup Xell/Gentoo

02. In gentoo, open up the terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal )

03. Type "sudo passwd" (withouth quotes), this will prompt you to enter a new password and verify it (the characteres of the password will not be displayed)
This will give you admin powers

04. Now we can mount the USB drive
Plug the USB in (rear USB port if you have used the front for mouse/keyboard
In the terminal type: "su" (without quotes) it will ask for your password, the one the just entered
Type "cd Desktop/" to change dir to Desktop
Type "mkdir flash" to create a folder on the desktop
Type "dmesg | grep -i "SCSI device"" (without the outer most quotes, the quotes around SCSI Device should be kept)
This will display a few lines similar to:
SCSI Device sda: ... (4GB)
The important part here is the part after Device (sda, could also be sdb, sdc etc)
Type "pwd", this will show you the path to the desktop
Finally type "mount -t vfat -o uid=gentoo,gid=users /dev/sda1 /home/gentoo/Desktop/flash"
Keep in mind to change the sda to the value you had (rear port should be sda) and the last part to what the "pwd" command showed + /flash

05. You should have a folder on the desktop named flash and inside you should see the xbr.bin (or whatever you called it) and lflash.c

06. In the terminal, type "cd flash" to change dir to the USB drive

07. type "gcc lflash.c", this will compile lflash and create an a.out file on the USB drive

08. type "chmod +x a.out", this will make it executable

09. type "./a.out backupnand.bin xbr.bin", this will create a file called backupnand.bin and flash xbr.bin to the NAND (change xbr.bin to the name of your file)

10. NAND should be flashed so turn the 360 off and boot up, and hope you get launched into a kernel

Thanks to wickwack for most of this tutorial..."

What about a more detailed explanation m8 - ie how to actully do it?

Wrong forum, but real quick (what I do - for now):

1. Use xexloader to rip game to HDD (hdd0:\Games\).
2. Go into game folder, copy default.xex to USB stick.
3. Patch default.xex on PC using xextool.
4. Overwrite old default.xex in 360 game folder with patched one from USB stick.
5. Play.

Too easy. With this XBR update though it appears things will be the way of the original xbox with disabling media checks

Are you serious m8? I know how to do that, I was on about flashing the updated xbreboot without having to wire up ltp cables again to the mobo.

It's a bit "long", at least for someone who understand linux a bit... anyway the problem lies in the lack of sources for lflash.c and Gentoo ISO.

This + dispatching a compiled lflash (a.out, possibly already renamed) would make the thing easier.

results:

after my xenon gave me shit (was freezing alot) i'm finally able to confirm a few things
THE FREEZING ISSUE IS FIXED! trials hd plays flawlessly, and assassins creed no longer suffers.

XEXS DO NOT NEED PATCHING! this means we can use title updates from our cache folders for loading games off usb. this means DLC is all alive now, and RB2 DLC works flawlessly again with the appropriate title update.

this is all ive tested, as these were the only issues ive ever had with XBR.

XBR is now better then freeboot in EVERY way. it does not need xex patching, and it works with usb games and title updates. something freeboot does not have (yet)..

awesome work TeamXBR. your work is appreciated here.

EDIT: just realised, its no longer necessary to press the guide button to get apps to load sometimes. everything just works.

Does It Mean They Found A Bug While Running It On Falcon ??!!!!

Or maybe they'll just make 3-4 copies of the same file with different names to avoid confusion... who knows...
