double check all your connections on both ends of the jtag wires, make sure the black band is positioned the proper way for your 2 of the 3 connections.  are you getting power to the console(green light in center, green lights circling, controller syncing).  make sure your points arent shorting out, cover them with electrical tape on top and bottom of board.  i got a falcon board that i just did this too, it was tricky for me to read the nand(or i might have been too out of it to realize i did anything wrong).  but i had video with stock dash and jtag, as well as xbreboot_8955_1.

diodes are the right way, console goes thru the normal boot cycle you describe, not that no video matters yet,on my 9th nand dump and none are 100 percent identicle, best ive got is 6 differances, been over the board with a magnifiying glass cant see any shorts---ive seen mention of a 330 resistor being needed on falcons in place of the wire in jtag

u could try to 330 ohm resistor, but ive got just a wire, and its fine.

try to disconnect your jtag on one end of the wires, see if u get video, if not try using degraded to see if theres just random bad blocks.  if so you can use nand compare & rebuild(i think its called that), and put in 3 dumps.  if they all have different sectors that are bad, it will compress them all into one good dump, then run that through degraded.  as long as degraded says their all good, i believe it should be safe to either flash that over the original nand, or continue with xbreboot.  im not 100% sure if it will work properly doing that, so if it breaks, dont blame me.  i had a console that i tried this with in the past, and i kept getting the same issue.  i eventually just updated the console and used it like a normal one... lol
