Have you tried this on many consoles (different models)?
How many consoles did you uncrippled with this?
Nice tut.
Thanks!

Sounds great;)
Just ordered my LPC2148 so will try in a couple of days.
Did you use LTP or USB?
How much does it take to dump a Japser (512Mb) through LTP?

Must be using USB, as I did it via LPT and it took well over 24 hours just to dump once.

I'd also like to point out that saves and profiles need to be reupdated on the banned-then-restored box before they can be transferable again. At least that's how it was for my test.

Yep - gerry-rigged up a USB for the 512mb I did - I did do one NAND dump using LPT (and another computer), and as AnimeC pointed out, it took bloody ages.....had little sleep, and took a day of work  blink.gif although if you don't mind the 2 days it'll take via LPT Grim187 made a DOS batchfile that automates the dumping and checking procedure here:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=697023

But the flip side is - you don't spend anywhere near as long correcting the NAND - you're only writing to one sector, so after the wait and confirmation of your NAND dump, it only takes a minute to fix the NAND in the 360 smile.gif

Re - the saves/profile - true enough, but only the saves that were borked (or at least in my testing).

Hm, I'm willing to try that method, only I'm curious about one thing. Since I've been playing a few games since my xbox got banned, and I surely got my profile and some of the saves "corrupted", will those saves and the profile be read as corrupted on a console after such uncrippling? And if so, is there any way to uncorrupt the saves and profile to be able to read them again?

Edit: ouh, I see I missed this information, you mentioned it before, sorry. So my only question would be if I'll be able to correct all (or at least, most of) my saves? Is there some kind of a nice guide around?

Would you mind sharing what you made?
I'm still on the fence about buying a LPT-USB adapter cable, not sure if it will indeed make the dump/write speeds faster than LPT directly.

Am I wrong or wasn't NAND reflash possible without a CPU key?

Thanks for the tut thwack!

Just to be sure I'm doing things right, in the tutorial you have 00487E10 divided by 04200 and get 158, but using windows calculator I'm getting 119.  If the above numbers were the numbers used would 119 be correct?  Thanks.

Yes, I got the same result (119). Wanted to ask that question also.
Also please confirm that you don't need the CPU key and a non-banned NAND in order to re-flash the NAND.
Thanks

Yep - you're spot on - I butchered part of my earlier tut, so didn't include my correct workings out sad.gif
Sorry if it's confused anyone......

You do not need the CPU key etc  to reflash the NAND - and you don't need your unbanned NAND (otherwise all you'd have to do is reflash this to your console).

Does this also fix the Media Center Extender functionality, or is that unrelated to 'secdata.bin'?

Two questions about using USB instead of LPT :

First up, I guess you need to use different commands with nandpro when you're using USB?  For example I guess this command is only for LPT?

nandpro lpt: -r16 nand.bin

But then I guess it's not just a matter or replacing the lpt with usb because you would need to specify the exact usb port?  I'm not sure, I see that Thwack has used USB and wrote this tutorial, so maybe the nandpro lpt: command works even for usb dumping?

Second question :

QUOTE(thwack @ Nov 23 2009, 01:41 PM) *
You might be better off building a USB reader device, see this thread on how to (yes it involves a bit of reading).

In the thread linked above, it seems to indicate that for USB you need a 'LPC2148 Olimex USB header board' along with the 'LibUsb driver'...  so I'm wondering if one of those pre-made USB-Parallel cables from ebay would work, since it's probably very different.  Also in that thread it quotes from somewhere else that you need to 'Flash the .hex file to the LPC2148' and 'Point "found new hardware" to the "custom.inf"' but those instructions don't make any sense since it doesn't say anything else about a .hex file or a custom .inf!  So my question is to the people who have had success using USB, did you need to use these instructions, or any special drivers, etc?

Thanks.

I've just unbanned my jasper 256 using lpt

Have a little update here thwack

The block with the latest secdata.bin started with 1F FE not 1F FB like in your manual.

But filling it with nulls and flashing back to the xbox made the job.

All is working perfect again!
