Good work guys, I'll have to get a cygnos to try this out.  Do you know if it will be possible to get this running from just the onboard nand?

No. The scripts will build two seperate images. A 16MB image for XeLL and rebooter, and another 16MB image for the kernel

I'm not sure on this but since the smc does get reset and it is running a pretty much stock kernel I think microsoft is almost as limited as to what they can do on the box remotely just as we are hypervisor is the key here .. although I'm not sure if Microsoft can detect the fuse count remotely.. should be interesting to see how this plays out..

YES.

I hope we see the ability to run unsigned XEX files in the near future and run games off the HDD completely with no disc in the DVD drive just like the old Xbox.

As freeBOOT needs a second flash memory to store kernel 2.0.8498 and
associated data, a Cygnos360 is required at the moment.

Are there plans for making Cygnos360 unnecessary, meaning booting from the single on board NAND.

Wait...does this mean we can have both the dash that killed the hack, and Xell?!

Also, any word on when we can use Xell with normal composite/component?

Yes exactly. The day is finally here. I resets the SMC so that you can easily switch between the jtag hacked custom kernel and the latest one needed for latest games.

I just wanted to say that I had been working with a confirmed reputable source who had been coordinating to release this software for the past week. It should be safe and ready to rock and roll smile.gif

This is great work guys.

It's way too late for me to take it all in but this sounds like a dream come true.

I am trying to understand how this gets around the CB-fuse security ms uses.

Really great work thanks to all involved.. can anyone confirm if they are able to play retail games on this successfully?

would love to see this eventually as an Elf that can be run from a  Xell menu system

(wondering who ikari360 is though - registered yesterday here - unknown on xboxhacker tongue.gif this skill doesnt come without great experience )

EDIT - I wonder how difficult an update it is to patch this for unsigned XEX's? I hope this is not possible personally as this would probably damage libxenon and push 360 homebrew into illegality. Better to do our own thing with the hardware than take to easy illegal route.

I want test that, but i don't understand one thing.

First, original nand contain freeboot + xell, the second nand contain the dashboard we want to boot.
If we power up the box with power button, dash on second nand is launched (so second nand is used), and if we power with eject button, xell is launched (first nand is used).

But how ? As far i know, cygnos use switch for nand (both can't be activated)

I ask that because i have dual nand XD with switch

CygnosV2 allows Xell to communicate with it. CygnosV2 also allows hot swapping of the NANDs (No power down required to swap).

This is an example of Xell being used to tell CygnosV2  to swap NANDs.

As far as I know dual NAND XD wont suffice.

-We have added the possibility to communicate from "Xell" to Cygnos360 V2, for example to switch kernel via software command. (hotswap)
-We have added the functionality to enable switching between kernels having different SMC versions. It is not necessary to unplug the console for kernel switching, which is the case on current homebrew nand switchers and XD card solutions.
