the 0.6 watt rom maplin work ine. i have used them in my hack. and yes the ones rs components should work too

warbeast I just went into maplins and ask for x3 330 ohm resisters and 5 100 ohm resisters and a 25d male connector.

Soldered em all in and it worked no trouble.

the kids running my local maplins must be idoits then because 3 times ive gone in and asked for the 330ohms 0.6watt  resistors and all 3 times they didnt work

i'm 100% sure its the resistors because if i connect the points without them it works fine no e79...

i give up i brought the of 1/4watt 330ohms from rc today and still get er79 but works fine without the resistors

could it be because i have soldered the resistors to one side of the board running wires to the other points instead of have them in the center?
or could it be the gage wire?

no, either you have electrical contact or you dont. You can check the resistors with a meter if you have one?. Have you checked for solder splashes etc?

These are 330K = 330000 Ohms and that is the reason it wont work.
You need 330 Ohms, wattage does not matter at all, eg if possible get 1/8 wat, these are nice and small.
