If I have a box that is at a lower kernel version than 4532 and remove the RT63 resistor, will I still be able to get my CPU key, change DVD region etc. and upgrade/downgrade the kernel as I need to? Just looking for confirmation as from what I've read the Infectus downgrades from one of the later kernels with the Timing Attack PCB but if you have the CPU Key you can have full control of your 360.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

Thanks for any help.

Since your kernel version is already lower than 4532, you can upgrade to 4532 (using the HD dvd-rom update from 10/06) and use the hypervisor exploit (patched KK disc).  This will allow you to boot linux, get your cpu key, and make a complete dump of the NAND.  Once you have done that and you upgrade it to a kernel version higher than 4532/4548, you will need an Infectus to 'downgrade' your console.  This will consist of you flashing back the dump you made of your 4532 kernel. You will also need an infectus to flash a modified kernel that consists of any changes you made (dvd-key, region, osig string, etc...).

So, if you plan on making any significant changes to your console, you will want an infectus.  You will not need a downgrade addon, assuming you make a valid dump prior to upgrading.

In that case I'll probably require an Infectus as I plan to change the region of the DVD-ROM. Anybody know any decent UK suppliers of the Infectus shipping now?

the region has nothing at all to do with the dvdrom.
