is there any way to backup the bios so i can keep linux and still go live?

You need an infectus to dump the NAND, and you will want to remove R6T3 on the underside of the mobo.  Once you have done that, you can upgrade to a newer kernel.  Then when you want to downgrade to an exploitable kernel to use live, you flash back the dump you made.
