well i don't think we will get the cpu key either but we can figure out with how microsoft decides what that key will be

worst case and most probable is that they're all random

This is still a useful step, folks. If you have or can get hold of an exploitable-version Xbox, you just need to boot linux on it once to dump the fuseset, then you can upgrade and play games, go on live, whatever you want. Later, when there's a reason for normal mortals to want to use the exploit (say, homebrew releases, or whatever), you can grab an infectus and downgrade using the dump you took of the fuseset. This means you don't have to buy anything or do any soldering until some future time when you want to downgrade - dumping the fuseset is pretty easy and only requires software.

Previously the only way to do this required dumping the NAND in advance (meaning you need an infectus, or other nand programmer) and removing r6t3 (which is pretty damn small). This is clearly much harder smile.gif

Maybe we'll never get the CPU key, maybe we will.

We've made a LOT of progress in the last month (now able to decrypt the whole flash, reconstruct the HV/kernel from flash, downgrade blown fuses, recrypt the flash and our xex decompressor/decryptor is also almost done too) and the more progress, the sooner a hack. And there's one thing for sure: if you adapt the 'it will never work' attitude, you won't succeed. If everybody would think like that, there would NEVER be any new hack.

I still DO believe in a hack for everybody and we're working hard to get it to you.

Yeah.. totally agree with you!

That´s why my kernel is 2858 since I bought it.... I still hope for some major auto-install complete hack to the newbies like me, whenever it comes out, even if it takes a long time... In the meantime... I play the games I want in my old PC....

Congrats to you, Specialist and all guys working hard on it. Keep up the good work and don´t ever give up!

Cheers smile.gif

First off Great work guys!

With the new progress I finally decided to update my box to 4532 from I think 2868. I then battled the E66 error but have tackled that and all is well now. Linux live cd is up and running on my box and surprisingly faster than I expected. My question now is before I update further I would like to dump my CPU key. Problem is I am not sure on how to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help appreciated!

I have a question. It may be a silly one, but anyways:

Let's assume we have a box with known CPU key (from Xell) and a current kernel (read out with Infectus, lying around on a PCs harddrive), and another box with unknown CPU key, but the same kernel (which is also read out by Infectus, also lying around on the PCs harddrive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ). Is there no way to extrapolate the CPU key from the second box by doing something with the kernel and the CPU key from the first box?
