Posted by XanTium | May 31 23:50 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Robinsod released a new version of the 360 Flash Dump Tool(info) - a developers tool that will allow you to decrypt and extract various parts of a XBox360 flash dump.
What's new/fixed:
* Decrypts CF & CG (thanks again tmbinc)
* The .cab file extracted from CE now contains 2 files, Hypervisor.bin and xboxkrnl.exe
* Exported sections now include version number in the name
Todo:
* Apply CG patch to CE and extract patched Kernel & Hypervisor
* Patch pairing data in CF and re encrypt

Official Site: n/a, by Robinsod on xboxhacker.net
Download: here
Thanks to HoRnEyDvL from Team XOS for news/link.

Thanks a lots for sharing knowledge!!! Great work!

(We have homebrew, it's just narrowed to fw 4532-4548 and lacking graphic hardware acceleration, but technically, we have it. Firmware knowledge will bring better drivers -for sure-, and firmware tolerance expansion -perhaps-)

Does anybody know if this or any other program can be used to extract the motherboard/dvd drive key from the motherboard. I messed up a flash on my Toshiba/Samsung MS 28 drive last night and i reformatted the usb flash drive before copying off the firmware dumps (stupid, yeah i know)

Thanks

In your case its much easier to try to recover the files from your formatted USB drive , it's possible as long as you didn't do a lot of extra writing onto the drive after the format.

Look at http://www.runtime.org/downloads.htm , best software in my opinion and never failed me , you prob need the fat version unless your drive was ntfs. Many other utilities with free small file recovery out there as well.

Good luck

You technically can get the drive key from a hacked xbox, however, you need to have a hacked DVD drive to hack the xbox to get the necessary information required for the dump program to work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Therefore, you'd already have the drive key to hack the firmware so you could load the burned DVD. You can dump the raw data from the NAND, but you need a key from the xbox in order to decrypt it. That key is only available once you hack the xbox.

Sorry if it's confusing, it is pretty confusing stuff. Basically, this may lead to extracting drive keys or changing them in the future. But the necessary steps are not in place (and currently not possible) at this time.

This info is from what i've gathered on xboxhacker.net. It's (mostly) correct AFAIK. Somebody will correct me if I made a blatant mistake.

Thanks for the great idea but unfortunately it just couldn't find the file, it did however find alot of stuff that really surprised me to be honest. It sucks because it was not formatted since i wiped the original file. Ah well, looks like i gotta get a new 360 mobo.

Thanks anyways guys
