Tsop Swap?
« on: May 26, 2007, 01:26:00 PM »

Does anyone know if the console ID is stored in the TSOP chip along with the dasboard?  Reason I ask this is because I have a functioning motherboard that has NO original firmware and a non functioning mobo (error 0020) for which I have the original firmware BIN - just curious to know if anyone has attempted swaping TSOPS along with DVD-drives to see if its possible... if not, well I might give it a shot and post my results.

Thanks,

Wont work, the data inside is tied to the individual console so swaping them will result in the cosoles not booting.

So is it possible to change other devices as well as the TSOP to get a functioning mobo?

Unless you have the balls + the sweet soldering skills to desolder both the cpu and gpu from the BGA... then I'd recommend you try one of the x clamp fixes on it, either lawdawg0931's or RBJtech's method. Once done with one of the tutorial, do the towel trick just to reball all the solder while the board is not flexing... so it will work again, then won't flex anymore.
