Upgrade To 4532
« on: March 22, 2007, 11:36:00 AM »

I had a 360 that I fried the drive of.  I bought a new one later.

Anyways, I checked the kernal today and it is a 2585.  Anyway I can upgrade to a 4532 without a game.  If I were to connect it to live would it install updates one by one or all at once?

If I can get it to the 4532 I can get one step closer to finding the DVD Drive Key.

Another option I wondered about.  I know that the hard drive stores updates.  I found this out when I took my old hard drive that had been used on someone's elses xbox with Xbox Live updates.  Could I just remove the latest updates and plug it in for an upgrade?  Like check the hex for a version or something?

Just connect it to live, right when you try to sign in, it'll tell you "Update available from xbox live" and you'll have to get it for live, but yeah, it's simple as that.

Dont take the update from live.  It will probably update  you to 4552.  You can upgrade from the HD DVD-Rom upgrade disc, without knowing your drive key since you burn it to a CD (i'm pretty sure).  It can be found here.

Just a thought though - you need to boot King Kong to use the hypervisor exploit.  This requires you have a modified firmware and your drive key.  Thus, i dont think you're one step closer......... sad.gif
