@Murc: Yes. You need the vision cam. Please don't spam topics to get your stuff answered.

Any progress is welcome. However, this is certainly nothing usable at this point in time. Ah well, it'll happen eventually.

thats what i found pretty cool.

if there was a flaw from day one... it can now be exploited.

exactly my first thoughts(lets take the back to basics approach) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

This would surely be fixxed in later batches of 360s?

il speculate that in having both the orig kernel and latest kernel on board is prob part of the repair/recovery process by M$, so i would say its definately a "way in"
the next few weeks/months will be very interesting

That's nice that they're thinking about getting a custom kernel patch to run. I myself was thinking of cracking the signature to sign code and porting XBMC. I've already got several star systems on board to provide energy for the computers.

Lol, how would you crack the signature which is eventually signed with the code itself !?

Besides, its said that the patches are signed and the kernel is signed. You cannot just load up a non signed kernel/and or patch.

at least microsoft left one flaw, nice to know for everyone. everything can never be perfect.

just one thing is it possible that ms can fix this flaw, i am assuming that ms cannot force old 360's at least not to go back to original kernel.

lets hope for a breakthrough soon.

Well since it still is not confirmed if the demo disc boots nothing is certain.

Great news and interesting to, definitely trust this more than a simple Tux and Mac logo bouncing on a screen like that news a few days ago.

Now if only they could get the backup rom to boot of an external chip. Then you wouldn't need to worry about Live updates, but I'm sure it's more complicated.

I have a thought. What if MS treated the 360 kernal like vista's kernal. Kinda like one kernal broken down into parts. wouldn't it be easier to study the patch that has access to the kernal to somehow benefit us?

Since dropping back to 1888 is made possible by MS, there must be a button combination / flash disc that can do this automatically. Something that repairmen can do when brought a disfunctioning x360.

If there was somekind of problem with an upgrade that would render Xboxes useless, it would just be common sense to be able to restore them.
