I've been hearing a lot of bad things about the 5028 lately, and Didn't really like the ind-bios that much.
So, excluding those two, what do you guys think is the best version? <

well not counting the X2.5028 or iND-BiOS... i would definately go with X2.4981 (not X2.4983 cause this one cant be customized)... cause with XBtool u can customize the colors - boot order etc on the X2.4981 bios... and the good thing about X2.4981 that really favors it, is it's "TIME TESTED" so everyone knows it's reliable wink.gif

main thing i would say thats better about X2.4981 over the ind or x2.5028 bios's is there is NO extra loadup time like there is in the indbios or x2.5028 bios... since they check hard drive for a .ini file.

but X2.4981 only works on v1.0-1.5 xbox's so for 1.6/1.6b xbox's ur forced to either use Evox M8 type bios or X2.5028 ... i would definately choose X2.5028 if it where me and i had a 1.6 xbox.

im currently running the X2.5028 bios right now... but if i was not i would still be using my X2.4981 bios that was flawless since it installed it.

to solve the long boot time for ind-bios, you can inject the config into the bios and it'll get rid of that "Loading InD-Bios" screen. <

I have an x-chip and I recently upgraded the hd and I had to upgrade the bios in order for it to recognize the hd. I ended up flashing through usb the m8 bios but it doesn't seem to be as stable as what I had in it before. I can't remember which one I originally flashed. Is a bios mod chip specific? Which one would be the best for me? I don't use xbox live and I just want a basic stable bios to play backed up games. Sorry if this is off topic... from what you were talking about I just didn't know where else to post. Any help would be appreciated....

I'm sure that I won't take long to browse through the readme and see what features are aviable. You can use ANY dashboard with X2 <

There is an x-chip specific bios...
No one can tell you the basic bios you can use since you didnt provide your xbox version - some early bioses like x2 4977 and evox d6 were stable for everyone (I have never used a bios I would call "unstable" though, I think its mostly user error), but dont support later revisions of the xbox.
The reason for the pinned topic that specifically says not to ask what bios is best is for this is exact same reason, there are dozens of chips, 8 xbox revisions, and different needs for every person.  Can you imagine if all 200000 of the forums members posted asking what THEY should use? <

this is a really retarded thing to suggest imho

5031 is the bios to go for - pisses all over 4983 - and thats coming from theguy that made it.

one day - just one day you guys will understand what beta means and work in progress and you may also appreciate the countless hours that goes into this work

perhaps u should make your own ?

in the meantime use 5031 - read up on the features - it rules. end of story really. <

He said that *he* likes it more.  Why argue with what he clearly said was his opinion.

Right now I'm dual booting with Ind-Bios latest beta and Xcuter 5031 with 5031 being my default bios for the simple reason that it's newer and I don't mind doing some beta testing.

Both BIOSES have some really cool options but Ind-Bios seems to be no longer under development (am I right heinrich?) and X2 is under active developement so by using Xcuter and reporting bugs (0 so far found by me sad.gif) I have a beter change of improving the bios.

I really hope that isn't true.  I mean maybe the dev's are on a really long coffee break.  I love the ind-bios.. best one i have used so far.  Very stable as far as my experience goes.  Never have used it as debug though.  In fact don't know if it can be. <
