Swapping One Hard Drive Between Jtag Consoles

I have a jtag console with the sata cable mod to support 3.5 hard drives. I also have another jtag console that I was thinking to do the sata cable mod to as well, but wanted to know if I can swap the hard drive (only have 1 3.5 hdd at the moment) between consoles without formatting. Is it possible?
