Bios That Will Ignore Hdd Lock...
« on: April 03, 2005, 03:04:00 AM »

I currently have a softmod xbox that uses the ude2 exploit. I tried to install an new HDD into my xbox and set it up using xboxhdm. Did everything that was listed in a tutorial and when I started it up I got a error 05 which meant the HDD could not be unlocked. Went back and unlocked the HDD, put it in the xbox and got a error 06 which meant the HDD could not be locked. Tried to boot up a auto-installer from the DVD but it wouldn't do that. From reading around, I read that the xbox bios won't recognize unlocked HDD. So my question is, can I download a BIOS that will bypass the standard xbox BIOS so it will read unlocked HDD because I have been trying ever since 9:00 pm yesterday to get this to work and haven't. Thanks for the help.

What did you8 use to lock the hard drive? did you use the actual EEPROM? sounds like you put in a different password then the xbox one. Also you cannot bypass the xbox bios without putting a chip in or flashing the TSOP. With flashing the TSOP you can't play xbox games anymore. GOOD LUCK!

Ok, lets get the facts straight:

1. Check for unlocked/locked (with right keys) HD will be done during bootfase of xbox
2. Software exploits do work after the machine is booted and the dashboard is loaded/trying to get loaded. It will either replace or "patch" the current bios to do whatever you want it to do.

So, its no use to replace the bios you are using in your softmod setup, since there is no way to do this before the machine boots.

Now, what to do next ? Well, you've got two options:

1. Install modchip - a chip is able to "bypass" the bios upon boot.
2. Lock the harddisk - with the right keys - and do place them back.

Reading your story, it would seem that you didn't supplied the right keys for locking the thing. Read the HD swap tutorials again....

Mine sure can, you mean live?
and if you have a 1.0/1.1 you can still use live if you install a switch.
