Play Backups Off A Hdd With Out Jtaging (theory)

I dont think it will work because:

Well the xbox will have to be modified to play the back ups off the hard drive.

How are you going to hook up the hard drive? Through the sata where the dvd drives goes in?

Good luck writing xbox firmware to a hard drive.

ashfungo yeah the HDD will be placed at the same location as the DVD Drive and for the DVD Firmware i would have to do some research to figure out what address The DVD Firmware Resides at.

Are there any sources for Jungleflasher? i can probably see were exactly it writes/reads to.

Uhmmm no no no no no. N00bs should not try any real hacking. If you think that what you are trying to do could work you just need to stop and get yourself a Jtagged system. Their are very simple reasons why what you are tyring to do would NEVER work. Just give up your team will never be formed because everyone around here already knows better than that.

my question is how would you be able to play the game without having a cd in a drive?  how would you add new games without removeing the drive? the jtagg correct me if im wrong has these things covered.  You FTP the games to the drive and the jtagg doesnt require you to have the disk in right?  Are you just trying to simulate the original process of just modifying the dvd drive and playing burnt backups on DL dvds?  If so you still needed a dvd or game present in the dvd drive to actually play the game.

Transferring games would be the easiest part, the drive could still be physically externalized, the extensions of the connection would be internal. I think the OP has a good idea, however in order to mount the hard drive as a DVD i think you still need Linux, which isn't possible without unsigned code.

Don't really know how I can contribute to this, but it at least sounds *PLAUSIBLE*. I will be keeping an eye on this, let me know if you have a job for me.

How will the unmodded Xbox know where to look on the hard drive for games?

So how would the Xbox know where a game was on the HDD if there was more than 1 game? I could see this maybe working with just one game on a hard drive.

Or what about finding a way to make a universal disc that would allow you to play any games backed up on your system. You'd have to have a firmware that could produce multiple disc ids, which I am not sure is possible, and I definitely don't think it would work on LIVE.

As for this project, maybe something can come from it, maybe not...time will tell.

How's the firmware study coming?

Trying to understand the DVD Firmware and how it works. Reading all functions IXtream has and it looks pretty flexible looks like you can make the drive do anything. The HDD Firmware may be structured differently.

Before i go Anyone know wht language the firmware may be writen in?

I still don't understand what your plan is to identify multiple virtual discs on the hard drive. I see how one game might be able to exist on a game and it might work, I just don't see how you'd select from multiple games.

I have a lot of confidence this will work. If IXtreme can get away with playing Backed up games with out Microsoft knowing its a Copy. Then i can use there method and create a Costume Firmware for the HDD an get away with it. Firmware hacking can accomplish a lot, if it is done correctly. whit that said its still possible.

UPDATE: contacted iXtreme for there Firmware expertise waiting for a Response. wish me good luck tongue.gif
