The Easiest Method To Swap In A Larger Hdd And Transfer Data

This is THE quickest way to do it smile.gif

Also worth noting - if you're using the FrostyTheSnowmans internal HD mod, and you're trying to FTP your old 20/60/120/250gb file structure over to your PC and you keep getting the e68 when you plug your old HD in to transfer - leave the bigger HD's sata cable plugged in (not the power cable), and it'll transfer.

Do i put the "$SystemUpdate_Fall08_7363" folder on a thumb drive then update, or put it on the hard-drive?

If you've got a thumb drive to hand, pop it on that and update.

5. Format it in XBR and run hdd_compat_partition_fixer_v1 (from the usual places) from XeXMenu.

ok, this is confusing.

i just formatted my 500gb hdd from xbr (NXE mode).

it's now blank. how can i run hdd_compat_partition_fixer_v1.. or xex menu?

can someone shed light?

btw, i dont have a dvd drive.

Is your Xbox JTAG'ed? If it is- you need to format the HDD in the NXE dash (XBR flashed of course). After doing so, you need to run hdd_compatibility_fixer. Do you have XeXMenu or Freestyle Dash installed? If you don't have a DVD drive you must have a HDD that you are running everything off of, correct?

nevermind.

what i did is copied the xexmenu to the xbox 360 internal memory (yeah, i know.. it's risky coz it might corrupt xbr)

done.

having trouble FTPing the contents of HDD1 to my PC

every time FlashFXP comes across a folder called 00004000 within the installed titles folder it throws a list error and fails on that folder.
these folders show no content, should they?

anyone else come across this?

Do not sign in to your profile when using XeXMenu to ftp. It won't transfer the profile if your signed in with it.

Can I do this and then use the drive with a non JTAG'd xbox without getting banned? I was thinking of copying all the files off my 20gig onto my computer then formatting my new 120gig on the non JTAG'd xbox then taking that and copying files back using the JTAG's xbox.

I want to do this to transfer all my data from my 20gig to 120gig and have the 120gig usable on a non JTAG'd xbox that will be going on live. Yes I know I should get a transfer cable but I already have the means of doing it and besides the cable is annoying to try and get.

You need to use HDDHackr to set up the 120Gb but you could still use this to transfer.

Since XBR is already on 8955 the 7363 update will NOT work.

You would need to get the 8955 update.  To my knowledge it will only install the avatars as you are already on 8955.

About to try this out and PRAY it doesn't burn my efuse.

Update: Yep used the 8955 update and updated fine -- still jtagged.  Now with Avatars on bigger HDD.

Hmm well I did it this way and it all worked perfect. I copied all files from the 20gig on the Hdd1 and HddX partitions to my computer. Then I formatted the 120gig on the non JTAG'd xbox. I then copied all files to the 120gig using the ftp on my JTAG'd xbox and then plugged the 120gig into my non JTAG'd xbox and it worked perfectly. Didn't need to use hddhacker at all or hdd_compat_partition_fixer_v1. I'm thinking because I formatted on the non JTAG'd xbox it set up the partitions for me.
