Is 640gb The Max 2.5" Hdd That Naturally Fits In The Enclosure?

Because the 750GB and 1TB are a little thicker, or another reason? If it's just a little too big, can't you modify the HDD enclosure a bit to make it fit?

Open your hdd case and see if you can fit in a hdd that is 3mm thicker. And pls let me know what you find out.

Normal/older 2.5 hdd's = 9,5mm
New 2.5 hdd's              = 12,5mm

Yes same question I would also like to know as I want to buy one today.
Also if I run out of space will there be a possibility to run another hard drive in conjunction on a JTag box?

You can only use 1 main hdd. The second hdd has to be a usb stick or external case afaik.

I'm anxious to see what you guys find out.

And I also wonder why they aren't more widely available.

There are tons of TB hdds on newegg and tigerdirect....
Also amazon.

I'm a bit worried if you can't even find a hard drive on newegg.

Even if you could fit the 3.5" into your enclosure, the 3.5"hdds require more power. You will need to solder a 12v power source into the power part of the sata enclosure.

Read this http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=699024

And yes, I believe someone did find 2.5" hdds that are larger than 640gb but do you seriously need that much space?

Yeah, we're talking about 2.5" laptop sized HDDs and indeed there is a 1TB out though it's not sold by the major resellers. As already mentioned, it's just slightly thicker (3mm) than your average 2.5". I like to have as much space as possible while keeping everything in a single package. I do move the Xbox 360 around a lot.

Hmm...having taken a closer look at the internals of the enclosure, it looks very possible to fit a slightly thicker drive in there as long as the width and length are the same. Just have to bend the metal casing a bit I think.

www.ZipZoomFly.com has been selling Internal 1TB 2.5" SATA drives since they were released (Although you are better off buying the portable 1TB drives and taking the little guy out)

Edit: Heres a link directly to the drive

That Seagate says it's 15mm high! I have an open case in front of me: 12.5mm looks possible with a slight mod but 15mm seems highly unlikely...

I measured it before i ordered it and i might have to modify the hd cage that goes on the top of the drive but it will fit. I talked to someone from the afterdawn forums and they said it would fit with minor modification.

However a word of warning with these external 1 tb 2.5 drives that think you can just take the drive out. According to this kid on AD the "sata drives" they put in these have no built it sata controller, that there specially made or something rolleyes.gif Dunno if this is true but just want to throw that out there.

I hope xbr brings support to use a hdd on the sata port. That would save me alot of cash. Those 2.5 1tb drives are way to expensive atm.

If xbr doesn't support it, how can you use the rest of the space? won't you be limited to 250gb on the internal drive?

I thought if you want more than 250gb of space, you have to go external USB, is that correct?

Correct. Just pop it in and format w/ NXE. Opted for the 640gb myself as 1tb is far too pricey right now.
