Hddhackr And 250gb Drive
« on: January 24, 2010, 11:58:00 AM »

I used HDDHACKR - 250gb bin file.

Flashed no problem

ASked me to format partition 1,2 and 3 - DID THAT.

REbooted - showed up fine as Hitachi.

Popped it in the 360 - showed up and formatted and seems fine.

NOW - here is where I am stuck.

Getting the proper information on the partitions.

I took my original 120 and opened it with Xplorer 360 - It only shows me parition 2 - partitions 1 and 3 don;t show up. I've downloaded multiple betas and such.  I have the HDD directly connected to the PC VIa SATA - (after formatting on my 360 took it back out the case and hooked it back up to the MOBO - I also have a connectivity kit - but same results - only shows partition 2.

So I copied parititon 2 to the PC HDD>

then I copied that info to the partition 2 of the 250 gb drive.

It will not allow me to book Xbox original?  I think the info is corrupt.  I can't even see the info on parititons 1 and 3 with Xplorer 360 - no matter what beta, or version I use.

SO My questions are TWO.

How do I get Xplorer 360 to read my data off my original drive - is there something I can try?

Next

If I use a Xbox transfer cable kit from my 120 to my 250 will it copy all the necessary data I need  to let the 250 work as a regular drive - Hence booting xbox originals and have the proper information on there?

thanks in advance

are you backing up the partition 2 using Xplorer360 Extreme2 (modified by the specialist?  if not then do so for the 120gb drive.  the contents of partition3 will show up on the 120gb in xplorer360 Exteme2.  you will need to use xplorer360 Extreme2 with your 250gb hard drive and only restore partition2.  you will not be able to see the contents of partition3 on this one.  once you have restored it make sure to run the backwards compatibility update from microsoft on your console with your 250gb drive and presto you should be done.

Antman

Thank you very much.

I still have some questions.

Will using a Xbox Transffer kit - from any stock drive with content on it - to a newly flashed 250 GB drive restore everything? Or do I sill need to back up partition 2 with Xplorer360 Extreme2 and restore it manually to the newly flashed 250 GB?

Second - it's been a long time - how or where do you run the Xbox compatibility update on the console? From marketplace? Download and burn to a disc? It's been a long time.

Third - Even my 20 and 120 gb using xplorer 360 the contents of partitions 1 and 3 do not show up?  Is there something I am doing wrong? Which Xplorer 360 or other program would let me browse my 120GB hdd so I can pick and choose what to Xfer over to the new 250?

Now you said partitions 1 and 3 contents will NOT show up? Is there any Xplorer or program that they will? SO I can browse them on the 250?

Thanks.

partitions 2 and 3 are all that is important.  your 20gb and 120gb drives should show these partitions if you are using Xplorer360 Extreme2.

However your 250gb Drive will have to have the modified version of Xplorer360 for 250gb drives.  and it will not work if you dont have partition2 on the drive.  you can hex it on the drive yourself as i stated or you can run the newest ver of hddhackr and it can creat the partitions for you however you may lose data already on the drive.

the compatibility update it a file you download from microsoft web site and burn to a cd.  then you put it in the 360 dvd drive and it shows like a game.  play and install it.

as far as i have sen the transfer kit softwar on the 360 will only allow transfer from 20gb drive to 120gb.

Nope, it may work on other drives too.... http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=695177

some issues...

I was able to use the Xplorer 360 to dump the partition 2 on my 120GB drive.

NO ISSUES THERE.

I flashed 3 drives..... (all WD scropio blues)

Hooked them up and used Xplorer 360 extreme for 250 GB hdd.

Copied the partition 2 info over to partition 2 on 2 of the 3 drives.  Ran the Compatibility update cd and 2 drives work 100% thanks...

The 3rd drive is giving me issues.

When i try to copy the partition 2 info over to my drive.  IT locks up.
I reboot and the info is all there - but when i plug it into my 360 and try to run the compatibility update it don't work.

I tried erasing the info on partition 2 and it locks up on delete of the info.

I went back into HDDhackr. Did a UNDO on it and flashed it back to WD drive.  Took it into windows and used the drive for a few days as a regular NTFS drive (to make sure it worked).  I then formated the drive. and booted back to dos.

went back into HDDHACKR and re flashed the drive back to xbox 360 format and formatted partitions 1, 2, 3.  Booted back into windows to load xplorer 360 250 extreme 2 and when I open parition 2 - the files are still there??? How can that be??  TBDX folder, compatibility folder all of them!!.. SO WEIRD .  I tried copying my partition 2 files over to partition 2 and it gives me some weird checksum error?  Again - get a lock up after that.

Anyone have any idea?  I am ready to just Nuke the Drive and RMA it for another one.   Any thing I can do to possibly get this to work?

Thanks

Well I gave up.

The 250 GB drive that was giving me issues is now in a PS3.

I guess it's time to order more drives.
