would someone be willing to explain how to try what the above two people suggested? I am having the same problem but I don't know exactly what they mean to do.

The easiest answer is to just install a modchip which is always on (connect D0 on the motherboard to ground).

Ok, well this is helpful (sounded sarcastic but it wasn't) because I was hoping to put a chip in then the box broke and thought I would be wasting money buying one.

I will quit trying to go over my head fixing this now and just go with a chip. Ill buy a new box for live play. thanks a bunch

If the modchip works, you could just flash the original xbox bios onto the chip and use it for live - it will be exactly the same bios, just loaded from the chip not the motherboard.
