Help On Doing Hd Upgrade To A Wd2500bevt
« on: January 07, 2010, 08:23:00 PM »

grr.gif Microsoft is winning

Ok out of frustration I went a bought a serial ata card 15 bucks.

Now I have a new issue.

hddhackr sees the new card and even the hd, but when I try and do anything it just sits there. So, I tryed to do something simple like create the partitions something that if is failed I could always load Linux and format into what ever I want.

Well I tryed command hddhackr c 8400 A0 and it just sits there. Any one have any idea. I know I have not bricked the drive as I loaded windows and formated the drive stuck some stuff on there and then deleted it. So, windows can use the drive.

Very annoying. Any help plz.

There is another poster here with a problem not getting his drive recognized. I saw in the Readme.txt that drives other than BEVS were supported, but I wonder if that is the problem. Maybe someone will see this post and let us know if they have successfully done a drive other than BEVS.

I've done a WD1600 BEVT without problems, I also know that people have done BEKT HDD's successfully.

A few things that may help:
Unplug all other drives and try different SATA ports.
Try different versions of hddhacker.
Move the SATA card to a different PCI slot.

Also done a WD2500BEVT successfully. Went through flawlessly first time!! So it freezes after you run the flash command? If you have a new SATA card, and the computer see's it OK, try and use the 'Auto' command, that worked fine for me

Only thing on mine is if its been on a while, it gives a very loud click when shutting down which is annoying and makes me thing its because the magnet loses power and the head smashes against the centre spindle,...!!
