Is it not true that if you go on LIVE with no DVD Drive you will be banned?

Just going on LIVE with a Jtag system will get you banned. There is speculation that if you are flashing your drive and using the 360 to power it without the SATA connection, you could get banned. I think that is what you are asking. That is why (among many other safety issues) it is better to have a power board to connect the drive to the PC.

If you're using USB you can have more than one HDD.  If on the other hand you're asking if you can have the stock HDD and connect another to the DVD sata plug, no the "DVD" HDD wouldn't be recognized.

One thing I was thinking of doing is removing the DVD drive and puting a 3.5 HDD in it's place then soldering an internal usb port for a 2.5 external USB HDD since there should be room inside for both.

Actually, I believe it is doubtful that they'd add actual RAID support because that adds another abstraction layer and will muck up how retail games access data on hard drives (since configuring drives in a RAID array alters how data is stored on those drives).  I suppose it is plausible that they could simplify how data storage is represented to the user, but it doesn't seem like that useful of a feature to me.

As far as the SATA Hard drive on the DVD-ROM SATA channel goes; if there are any hardware-restrictions imposed on that port by the XBOX kernel, it is only a matter of time before those can get bypassed by JTAG'd 360s.

I've been on LIVE with my non flashed Lite-on JTAG for about 2 weeks now and I'm not banned.  Its running homebrew while on a LIVE account on LIVE that will get you pinched.  Don't do stupid shit on LIVE like I havent and your probably going to be just fine.  ie.  Running SNES while in a party chat is a no no!

exactly correct.  I have gone as far as to create a custom power adapter for a sata hard drive, that plugs into the dvd drives power port.  the drive is not seen through the console when its connected to the dvd drives sata port, even if its the only drive connected.  i cannot say why this happens, all i know is that it doesnt happen. i know the power adapter worked, cuz i left the power connected there, and connected a usb adapter to the drive, xexloader saw the hdd through usb, but not through the internal sata port.

as far as the usb thing, if you wanna get fancy, open the metal on the back usb port, get a small 2 port usb hub, wire the hub directly to the 360 mobo, then have one port go back to the back panel usb, and have the other stay internal for the usb adapter.  good luck if you try to do that.  i would love to, but i still use my dvd drive.  lol

thats a good idea, tho it'd just be powered with usb, which all converters that convert sata to usb require a plug in to the wall
