Playing With Hdd

Ok after exploring the HDD some I think I can insert a game.  I have identified what files contain the games and demos.  The only thing is, is when I pull off a demo for example the file type is unknown in windows.  Also it is named in a long ass hex string.  I can take off the file and booting into dashboard with 360 shows the demo game gone.  I can insert that file back onto the HDD and it'll show up and be playable.

The question is what type of format are the files in?  How can I open them and extract the files inside?  How can one be made?  The only program I can open the file in is Hex editor.

You can download games and put them on your hard drive.

Well you could, but you couldn't run them from there.
