God I hate it when people do this.  they come here looking for help, solve their own problem, and don't bother to SHARE what found.

Hi,
i made myself a 120GB Drive of a Broken Original (the Case) and a BEVS 1200 HDD, everything worked fine.
(downloading Demos, save Games, download Live Arcade Games). what i didnt tried yet was playing Xbox Originals (From the 360 marketplace) and Xbox Games (DVDs) on the 360 and both dont work.
i downloaded the latest Backward Compatibility Update but it doesnt change anything.
when i try to play Fable (360 Marketplace) or try GTA 3 (DVD) i get a Blackscreen for a short amount of time, thenn a message appears on the right side that the game could not be started and that i should download it again.... this maybe makes sense for the game of the marketplace but for a DVD game?
I also tried to download Fable again (several times) no errors while downloading, but in the end its always the same.
I read somewhere that the emulator is stored on another partition, maybethe content of that one is missing?

The 360 (core system, 2005) is working without problems and the HDD is the only part thats not "official", so i thought it has to be the weak point.

I have the same problem. What did you do to solve it?

Got the same problem and fixed it!!!

What u need:

1.   ur old 20gig Xbox-Hdd (working)
2.   the new 120gig HDD patched and working (just xbox emulation missing)
3.   XPlorer360_xtreme2

1.) Just connect ur old hdd with the PC and launch XPlorer360.
2.) Choose Drive -> Open -> Harddrive or Memcard...
3.) Choose Drive -> Backup Partition 2 - store it on the PC (around 256Mb)
 - maybe Xplorer360 crashes after work but it should work anyway
4.) if not crashed Close Xplorer360
5.) disconnect the old 20gig hdd and connect the new 120gig and relaunch Xplorer360
6.) repeat step 2
7.) Choose Drive -> Restore Partition 2 - select the file stored in step 3
8.) Close Xplorer360 and try the new HDD on ur Xbox
9.) done ;-)

Now ur good old Xbox games should work fine, on mine it works!

have fun

I am new to xbox-scene.
my old 20GB was giving me e68 nag/error. So I replaced it with 120GB WD bev model.
When I try to boot pc with sata hooked up to 20GB harddrive, it wont even boot up. Therefore making it impossible to backup partition 2 and/or 3 from OEM HDD.

Is there any way I can get emulator on 120GB HDD? can anyone be kind enough to PM or post reply with some instruction or perhaps  link to relative post...
Thanks

Partition 2 files from any other HDD will do the job.

I took the file linked above.. partition2.bin and restored it to my 120GB I just made with Xplorer Extreme 2 - I then had to do the November 2007 Backwards Compatibility update to get most Xbox games to work - but this method does work.

Download the file from here, burn the XEX file to CD and run it on the Xbox after you restore Partition 2 and it will fix the backwards compatibility.

Thanks so much for succeeding where Microsoft tech support so epically failed!  This fixed my problem.

Hey all,

New to this forum and xbox 360 in general.

Just bought a refurbed 360 elite with a 120 gig harddrive and am running into the same problem with halo 2.  I've downloaded the partition file posted on megaupload here and my question is, is there a way I can add this partition to my harddrive without opening it up/ via Xplorer360 2?  I'm not too familiar with opening it or the program, and i dont wanna botch it up on my first try.  So if anyone has a way to add this partition while keeping the xbox intact, or even a link to a tutorial about adding the partition via xplorer360 2 (i've been waiting to play this for so long) lemme know or post it here?  Thx
