Stuck At 51/d1 Toggle

Up to the point where you do the ON/OFF/ON and the status changes from 0x51/D1 to 0x73.

Mine keeps at the 0x51/D1 toggling stage no matter how many long it's left or how many times I reboot.

Someone suggested it might be because the SATA is not VIA or nf4 (I have no idea if it is or not) - is this the likely cause?

I had this issue...turns out it just didn't like my mboard's nforce 2 or nforce 3 chipsets for my two desktops.  tried it on a friend's nforce4 board and it worked perfectly on the first attempt.
I have to point out I was using a controller card that it would work with, but the mboard chipset still prevented it  from working somehow.

So...what mboard chipset have you tried it on?
