Harddisk Drives

So
If im reading  posts correctly the following could be correct

You cant just buy and fit a 120gb hdd known to work on a 360 whichever fitting method used.
But if you were to extract the sectors from a active 360 120 drive then you just flash the new non M$ drive with the method explained  in the forums and if sectors from a 360 20gb hdd were used on a new non M$ 120gb hdd then after flashing it the 360 would only see it as a 20gb hdd and cant be resisized (True or Not)

Why would i want to flash a original drive if ive all ready got one.

So if  YOU havent allready got a M$ 360 120gb hdd to take sectors from then your stuffed
and if you were to use someone elses sectors M$ could pick up on this because every hdd has a unique serial No and/or security sectors. This could cause problems in the future as did program serial keys when going for updates, but if you dont go live then you should be ok.

So how does this work (im assuming but would clearly like to know)

You can go to a number of outlets and buy a 360 hdd go home and fit it to your machine and it works
ahaa got it when you connect the hdd to your machine the machine auto sends some information (security sectors) to the hdd so your hdd is paired to your mobo (cant be used on another 360) is this correct
and if so could you buy a M$120hdd and copy to the pc before use it on a 360 thus putting your pc copy onto a new non M$ 120gb hd drive and fitting to 360 work.
Any clear information would be Appreciated

Yours
Zac
