I had quoted that full text after stealth also.  I've since deleted that post so I don't look like an ass, though.  ph34r.gif

Now I wonder if that is HIM or he just didn't quote the article...

Edit:  Doh that's what I get for leaving the window open and not hiting post, other people said the same thing. tongue.gif

I say he is the member of Team Phoenix that's mentioned.  ::shrug:: Just a guess.  Notice his subtle mention of Phoenix loader above.  rolleyes.gif

Since I'm one of "those" people who can benefit from this BIOS, I'll do my best to explain things to those who "don't get it".

I just finished installing a new 2.2pro, and was going for the BIOS when I saw the article on the front page. I've been hesitant to mod my Xbox for the simple reason that I have NO CD/DVD burner ...unless I wanted to fry one on the stove.

I live in the middle of nowhere (with no transportation) and have no friends within 10 miles who could have helped me out with a boot CD (maybe you can see the problem here).

So a couple of major hurdles have vanished, my box is modded, flashed and I have my dash installed ...what's not to get? dry.gif

I couldn't care less if this is a "major" improvement or not, it's a major improvement over NOT being able to get my box set up at all, and I'll wager that I'm not the only one who will think so.

Anyway, it isn't that I can't see a point to some of the comments questioning the need for a built-in FTP, but the obvious advantages for someone like myself should be just as obvious.

I didn't quote the article... the article quoted me tongue.gif

I've extracted the ftpd xbe now, but it apparently does some checking of some sort and just launches the dashboard if you launch it normally.

I'll have to disassemble it to find out what it does.

Someone should check to see if it creates a save game slot like all xbe's do.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it deletes the save game data when it runs so people wouldn't realize it is just an xbe.

VoxAngel, that really is an ideal example of one of the uses of this feature.  Thanks for voicing your situation.  smile.gif

Congratulations.  You just flashed a 1024K BIOS to a chip with only 512K banks.  I hope you have an X2 Lite programmer.

Thats bad luck.

Im sure TX had tested it thoroughly before releasing it and nobody else has raised a similar problem... sounds like you did a bad flash...... and since its an X2L sounds like you need a friend with a mod or a programmer.

- Shorty

Edit:: I was wrong about opther people having the same problem, but as xeero said, its you bad, unlucky.

Edit 2:: I just checked the modchip section on the main page and it says the lite is 2 x 512 or 1 x 1024....... i do not understand why the x2L folks are having problems??

I would have thought that it would have worked fine, just set your jumper to boot from the first bank.  I put it on my PRO that has 4x 256k banks.  I dont see why this would be any different.

Or maybe I am just to tired to think......
