Team Xecuter are proud to give you a glimpse into to the future of Xbox Bios's and Modification hardware.

By that, I dont know who is expecting 'shit loads' of new features.  I am however expecting a large load with the x3 bios wink.gif

Once again we see how ungrateful people can hurt the integrity of the scene.

Team Xecuter is charging HOW much for their BIOS?  Nothing.  If you don't like their BIOS, don't use it.  If you don't want to have an FTP daemon built-into your BIOS, nobody is holding a gun to your head.  By the same token, if you're not doing anything to contribute to these features, don't complain.

You have plenty of other 1MB+ flash ROM options, and you have plenty of other BIOS options.  This is no way forcing people into buying an X3.

I can understand why (some of) you are questioning the usefulness of the bios...... but it really is great, and its a great advance.

1) People installing there mod first time will find it much easier.... especially if they have a thomson/phillips dvd drive, more so if they do not have a dvd burner... even more so for people with no cd burner (yes such people do exist)

2) For the sake of simplicity, its dam handy.

3) For those of you who insist on having a clean drive incase they get banned by new live checks that may or may not appear. (i know they could have a evo-x cd on standby.... but this is more of an all in one solution for them, its handy)

4) The fact that they managed to do it, for us people that are amazed by anything technicaly impressive.

5) Dont forget what they said, this is just a taster for things to come, and i for one am pretty impressed, do you just want them to stop developing cos it does what you need? apply that logic to anything else in the world and you will see what i mean!

- Shorty

PS. They said this is nothing compared to what they have lined up for X3.... i for one, can't wait.... what do you folks think may be in that...... lets speculate!

sure this bios makes it alot easer but anyone with any sense already knows how to ftp to there xbox without this bios

This of course makes the assumption that most people who hack their XBox have some sense.

That might be a bit of an overstatement.

ZildjianKX: I totally agree with you on the 1mb+ point.  I have only heard, up until now, that there would NOT be a 1mb bios released.  They have been saying 512k for a while, and that "a 256k chip ideal" or something of the like.  I will be disappointed if there are bios releases greater than 1mb in the future.  Esp. since its apparent  that the chips that xecuter are still selling today are not very "future proof"

My thought is that a significant chunk of the 1024K is fluff, but not with the intent of pushing large-ROM mods.  As I'd mentioned above, the FTPd code may have caused the BIOS to "overflow" past 512K to the next logical size, 1024K.  If that is the case, then Team Xecuter should be able to fit a LOT into the remaining space in that 1024K behemoth.

And have NO problems at all with a 1mb bios, only ones larger than that.  But i can't do anything about it either way, so I will just have to wait and see.  If at one point a 1mb+ bios is released, I will have to weigh in the new features with the price of a new chip.  I understand that this would be up to me, and no one si FORCING me to upgrade.  After all, this can only go on for so long, 'xbox next' will be here before we know it biggrin.gif

My Fear is that we didn't see a official 4978 bios without the Ftpd that is still 256kb.

I Know that no new feature except fot the Ftpd were added but I'm skeptic. Hopefully the next BIOS release will be available in both 256kb (without Ftpd) and 1Mb (with Ftpd) version.

I could be a way of forcing hardware upgrade particularly if the new BIOS will permit playing backup without having to use game patch.

I'm afraid only time will tell.....

the embedded "mini-ftpd.xbe" is 385k uncompressed.

It's somewhere over 200k compressed I believe.

no doubt that (as well as associated additional support code) pushed it over the 512k limit.

If that is the case, then yes, the packaged bios must  be 1MB, but there is quite a bit of room to spare.

Then should that happen for each new feature? Like EF too?
I can see it now...
4976.02
4976.02EF
4976.02EF_FTP
4976.02FTP

bleh, what a mess.  Better to just have different versions, and keep the comparison chart up to date smile.gif

IMO.....

I suspect that 4977 may be the last 256k xecuter bios that we see (unless maybe they do one for the 256k folks when a new "backup" prevention comes out)

I also do not think the bios's of the future (near/medium future) will break 1MB, as xeero said, alot of the extra 768 may well be unused space) i rekon that future bios's will be at least 512k if not 1MB.

All of which is fine by me, if i dont want/cant use it then i have 4977 which works perfectly. (i do have an X2 1MB though  tongue.gif )

All speculation, mind you.

Edit:: Stupid mistake!
