Grabbed Video Off Hdd
« on: January 31, 2007, 11:09:00 AM »

First let me say that I figured this was the best forum for this topic, as researching it involves the hard drive.

So I dumped a 104MB file from my hdd, and loaded it in hexworkshop to see what it was, and it's the halo 3 announcement trailer. I tried playing in VLC, WMP, and tried loading in Nero Vision and WMEncoder; nothing.
What can I use to determine what exact format the video is in?

Why not just look at the extension of the video file? That will tell you the format. And by googling the extension you will find an app that will play it (unless it's some proprietary format that M$ uses and cannot be found anywhere other than the XDK software).

Good luck getting it to work, I don't think you'll stand much cance in doing so though.

1) The File is likely in some Standard XBOX360™ ONLY Video Format!

2) I think that you might also be forgetting about any DRM Infections as well.

Assuming 1, wouldn't be enough to stop you, 2 probably would...
