Same problem here. I have a laptop used for original xbox modding, and there are no sata ports on it or on my main desktop computer.

So what are my options? I have a Toshiba-Samsung dvd in my 360.

I did a billion searches, some sites say:
1. Usb to sata will work
2. Some say none will
3. And some are just trying to sell thier own products without much info lol

Can anyone please help me map out a plan for modding my Toshiba-Samsung 360 without sata ports, or at least point me in the right direction? Thanks a ton in advance...

I think i may buy this, it has good reviews everytime i see it mentioned. From what I am reading it does exactly what I am looking for and need.

so should i go with the OP's choice instead?

Im not buying anything or doing anything until someone here can confirm successfull ways I can fully 360mod without internal sata ports. This site helped me do my original xbox perfectly, and this is the only spot I trust.

So yeah, I will keep refreshing this page and waiting until i get answers. Thanks a ton folks.

Not possible at the moment.  Buy a VIA VT6421L for your desktop or wait until Xecuter gets USB working with Samsung.

I had a similar problem with my pc.

In the end i had to do the two wire trick (Really easy to do!) to get drive into modeb and use a sata to usb cable to connect to my pc

May I know can I still use the slax cd to get my hitachi drive into modeb if I choose to use a sata to usb adapter? Does it also means that any sata to usb adapter will do and I do not have to go for a particular brand, model? Do I have to take care of the earthing issue as mentioned in the geebee guide?

Thank you very much in advance.

I'm not sure whether they'll ever be able to do it, certainly not soon. Just use your desktop PC, find a friend with one and offer to buy and install a sata PCI card for him (they're only cheap), or find someone who will flash it near you.
