« on: February 13, 2005, 09:30:00 PM »

alright i had installed linux everything going fine i hit something it screwed up so i took the files off the xbox and put them back on and reinstalled linux first thing is it looks way different than the first time i installed it the first time i installed i it said KDE with big blue background and the background is all white and says gentoox and the bottom tool bar is now setup all differently which i liked the tool bar better the first time i installed it it had sorta like a start menu icon to the very right now it doesnt have a start menu sorta thing . its just mozilla some audio player file manager and terminal and

when i had installed it the firs time it showed 4 numbers on the bottom toolbar showing that there is 4 differennt screens now its not there i dont like this new desktop looking way is there a way to change it back and also its not very good picture like the words on some things if they arent big i cant really read them  and some icons if they are smaller they are kinda blurry   <

Whaa?  And why are you asking for Linux help in "Windows on Xbox?"
I need help translating...I'm not sure what you're asking. <

I believe you installed the xfce version the second time. you have to go back and re-install the kde version. there are 2 types in the iso. xfce is faster but not as many options and kde is more appealing to the eye lol... <

watch linux boot and in red type before x starts system will display your ip address for you to ssh into with, i believe by default the login/pass is root/xbox. use putty on your windows computer to ssh to it and execute the command "xbvset" it should present a list of video options, otherwise run xbv -auto 640 480 0 0. this will reset your desktop resolution to a rather tiny size, but will make text appear larger. alternatively you could adjust various font sizes for the programs your working with. and ideally in the future for a faster response, u might want to post in the *nix forum, instead of the windows one. <
