i hav the samsung drive.  is there an easuier way to get power?  i dont have an enclosure.  where did you buy the xecutor kit from and where did you get the OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1 file from as i will need one that will work for the toshiba samsung.  thanks.

AFAIK no one has yet flashed a Samsung from a laptop.  USB->SATA converters don't communicate the specific signals required to flash Samsungs.  And I've yet to find a SATA PCIMA card, or ExpressCard, that has a suitable chipset that supports the signals either. sad.gif  (IIRC somone did post claiming they'd found a noname SATA PCMIA card that did work, but I only saw the link once, and never found it again.  Which may mean they were mistaken. sad.gif)

Hitachi's are much less demanding to flash.

I flash Hitachi drives on my laptop.  have had no problems whatsoever.   I have a pci SATA adaptor.  I use it to rip games (onto an external hdd) with my samsung dvd drive as well...  by the way.  excellent diagram.

i bought a sata to usb from tigerdirect, do you think it will work with my laptop since you say the sata pci adapter worked alright?  got a link or a pic of your adapter?  i plan on just leaving the drive in the xbox and running the power off of that.

For what? If you mean the Hitachi, read the actual topic and you'll find there's a pic & a tutorial. If you mean the Samsung, read his actual post and you'll find it's not possible. The moral of the story is to read more (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
