I Pulled my hardrive from my 360 and wanted to back it up.  Windows wouldnt read it and i didnt find this website right away so it got formatted with ntfs.

Unique approach to data backup.  rolleyes.gif

the 360 console does not recognize it as a valid hardrive.  I assume it sees it as a ntfs drive now.  Any way to get it back?

Nope.  The X360 HDD contain a special sector of data when shipped.  The NTFS format would have zapped this.  There is no known way to replace this (it's unique to every X360 HDD).  You'll need to buy a new one for use on X360, but you should still be able to use the old on as a 20GB Windows HDD.

My suggestion:

Goto your favorite gamestop, best buy, circuit city....whatever.....

Buy another hard drive and checkout their refund policy.  See if you can return an open box item.  Sometimes they may only charge you a 15% restocking fee.  Take the ntfs drive and stick it in the box and return.  Just remember to pay cash!  Have fun with your new drive!

ok, i'll try to make this as easy as is humanly possible.

ur xbox drive is an XBOX DRIVE and will not be visible under windows.

it has a different file allocation table [xfat?] which windows does not understand [ntfs&fat32].

to see the files on the disk u will need some software for eg. "xplorer360".

please don't ask stupid questions without searching the forums or atleast doing a little research first.

Depending on how you formatted it. You may be able to recover the unique per disk data.
There are a couple of vital bits on the hard drive, unique hash of sectors/serial number etc and the
MS PNG Logo if I remember.
There are also a few bits of information that dont vary from drive to drive but are required for the drive to be detected.
I did some testing a long time ago so cant remember exactly.
