Can i run Windows XP on my modded Xbox?
If its possible could nobody do a package that installs Windows XP to the harddrive and allows to run it...

And i know that the ram memory is too small in the Xbox...

well, you can always run linux with wine to get your windows programs working. theres no 3d drivers for the xbox chip though, so only 2d games work really. Diablo2 works like a charm even on battle.net tho. as a last resort if you hate linux you could always install it then run something like VMWare to put a windows95 install on it. i think xp would probably be overkill even as linux is kinda slow without another OS running on top, but with a ram upgrade to your xbox it shouldnt be that bad really, would be over 100 megs of ram available to windows.

if anyone has a ram upgrade, they should try it and let someone know. since this is a topic that gets brought up alot maybe someone should try to help find some sort of a solution rather then adding unwanted comments that dont answer anything

[Edit] WindowsCE sucks on the xbox last i remember, the mouse support worked kinda, but you couldnt see the pointer

Not VMWare, it really won't work with the xbox's limited ram. The best option is qemu, it's very easy to use and runs windows 95 fine with network support. As well as tomb raider, which is a bit of a laugh. Heh.

The easiest to get windows up and running on your modded xbox is to use an X86 emulator.  Xboch is that emulator, this emulator runs directly from a dashboard such as Evox.  It is intended to be a dos emulator, however I have installed Win 98 using Xboch.

Once you get Xboch running. Just put it on the Hard drive just as you would any other home brew app.  Just remeber to create a larger drive image (replacing the default d drive image with the larger d drive image (2GB works great) you created is all you need to do.)  using the included app (on your PC before you ftp files over).  You need to this or you will not have enough space to do it.  After that is done.   You have to copy all the files in the Win folder of a Win 9x CD and FTP it over.  The you must run xboch and select all the files that you just FTPed over.  All those files go into the drive image you made earlier.  When you are in Xboch's dos pormpt CD to the incoming folder,  ensure all the nessasary files have transfered over.  Then from there on it is no different than installing Win 9x on a PC.

Make your partitons with Fdisk, format the partitions, run setup.  simple huh.

Note that installation takes Forever.  But it will finish.  There has been cases that settup actualy froze.  All you have to do is restart xbox, run xboch.  98 will resume automaticaly.

Once everything up and running.  You will have the full version of windows running on your Xbox.

But, after using it for a while I deleated it, since If I wanted to use Windows, I would use my PC.

You will see why.   But it is the perfect way to impress your friends.  :D

think of it this way:

You are running windows via bochs via evox.  Windows on an X86pc with 64mb of shared mem alone wouldn't be the quickest thing, so having to emulate the pc architecture through another prog will be even slower.  Basically no usability, but a cool trick.  Do yourself a favor and use gentoox.

i tried running setup through bochs and it either went to a dos promt screen and nothing happend, or it sat at the loading screen

then i tried running it through dosxbox, it said something like "run a routine check on your system, press enter to continue, to quit setup press escape"

i press enter and sat for about 30 minutes and nothing happened
