Gamers Tag On Multiple 360's
« on: March 11, 2006, 09:25:00 PM »

ok, i know with the 360 you can't put your profile on the mem card and put it on another 360 and it be valid on both like the original xbox could.  so here's my question, can you use xplorer360 and transfer your profile from one HDD to the other and it be valid on both?  even then, would this also wotk with the mem cards?

I backed up my X360 HDD, rebooted and used the X360 dash to 'move' my profile to a MemPak.  Then restored to the X360 HDD.  Profile now on HDD & MemPak! cool.gif   Works fine when one or other plugged in (I'm careful not to have both connected at the same time.  Not sure what would happen. unsure.gif ) But I don't use XBL! It may have additional checks on  profiles! (Such as sensing the local gamerscore is suddenly less than the server held one!)

I guess you could also achieve this by simply unplugging the HDD and doing an XBL Recover Account to the MemPak. huh.gif

Thinking about it a little more, while this may not work still, I don't believe M$ could ban you for this, as you could get into this situation quite legally.  Say you brought an X360 HDD, recovered your XBL profile to it, and installed Final Fantasy - which I hear takes up a lot of disk space.  You then might purchase a 2nd HDD, for other XBL DLC, and recover your account to that HDD also.

This is a pretty good idea and I'm sure they won't ban you for it.

yeah, but what would get rid of that problem would be to always have the mem card in the system for your profile and the HDD for storing games.

this gives me an idea, I'll take and backup my HDD and then move the profiles on the mem card, then restore the HDD and see what happens.

here's my reason to wanting it...  I mainly use my 360 for media center, and i'm getting a seond one for the bedroom, to get rid of the computer off the tv...  i want both mine and my girlfriends profile so that we don't have to move gamer tags everytime we want to either move in the bedroom or to play the same game on two different systems.

a MUCH easier way is to move the gamertag to your memory card, then load up your memory card and back it up (or just copy the profile). then throw the memcard back in your 360 and copy the save to the hdd. hook memcard back up to the pc and copy the gamertag back to the memcard.

ive also tested that you can have multiple copies of your gamertag on the memcard (multiple copies of 544307D1 in the same folder). the 360 dashs lists all of them and allows moving them one at a time.

Same basic idea, but certainly a lot less data to copy to the PC - lol  biggrin.gif
Your quite right of course, but this is only easier if you've soldered a USB plug to your MemPak! (which I haven't yet)

ok, just got through putting my profile on both my mem card and HDD, and it does work...  both profiles worked great, then i tested the achevements...  played a game, got an achevement on the HDD profile, then shut off the system, removed the HDD and put in the mem card and loaded that same profile...  it stayed the old score for about a min, then it corected it's self.  once i get both of my profiles on both xbox's, i won't mind using the mem card to move my profile if i want to take it somewhere with me....  i just hope that MS doesn't have some type of key that gets upload to live when you move it, then it kills all of it, but so far a good thing...

just makes me wonder why MS decided to keep this out of the 360?????  they should have known people would have multiple systems and would want the same profile without having to move the mem card...  too bad you have basically "hack" it to make it work.

Ok maybe im not quite understanding what your saying but Your supposed to be able to take your profile between mutliple boxes officially as in the new Oblivion horse mod it says that you can get the mod on your buddies machine but will have to login with your own profile to authorize it.

i'm not having any problems taking my gamers tag or any game saves between 360's, what my problem was is that I want my profile to be stored on 2 different 360's at the same time, and officially, there isn't a way to do that.  if you put a mem card in your 360 and goto memory, it only gives you the option to move it, not copy it tot he mem card.

if you do an account recovery, it invalidates all the profile that are out there....  if you only have one, then it's invalid...  example...  my mom has a 360 also, and before i did this i went to her house and recoverd my tag on her machine...  when i got home, my profile on my 360 was now invalid and had to recover it.  next time i went there, it was invalid on her system.  the only way to have it on multiple systems is to use the xplorer360 program, put it on a mem card (or HDD), back up the mem card (or HDD), put it back on the system, move if from the mem card to the HDD (or other way around), then go back to the computer and restore the mem card (or HDD), and now you have it on two different devices.  for more devices, you repeat the steps.

I would advice using a mem card and the datal adapter as this would be easier (64 mb compaired to 20 gig) and quicker.

I do this every day. Transfer your profile to MU. Copy and backup MU. Put MU into 2nd system. Transfer profile to 2nd system. Now MU is empty. Put MU into Datel transfer kit. Restore Image of the profile u just saved back onto MU. Put MU with profile back into 1st system. Now you have the same exact gamerprofile on two systems. Only have one connected to live at the same time. Otherwise you will get an error. Do what the guy above said. When you get an achievement on an offline system (system2), shut down your online system (system1). Reconnect online with system 2. Upload your score. It will update your gamerscore. Disconnect system 2 from xbox live. Reconnect system 1 to live. It will correct the old score stored on system1 to the new score.

Confusing yes. What does this mean? You can have a room full of xboxes with people playing your games and getting you a super high gamerscore. One guy just has to raise a hand and then double check to make sure that the others on not online uploading a score. So long only one person is on live u will have no problems. If two guys get on live at the same time YOU WILL LOSE ALL OF THE POINTS that were recently awarded since it wasnt uploaded to the xbox servers. You can soon be the top 0.1% in the world. If you get points too fast, like 1000 instantly and dont upload it sometimes the xbox servers will default to the old score and not award you 1000pts. Kinda odd but has happened. Thus u always need to upload score. Like every 25 to 50pts. Not take a chance and upload 1000 at once.

Why am I telling this secret? I want M$ to fix this issue. I dont want to keep losing 1000pts because the amount it too much of a change from the previous score.
