Could This Be A Complete Softmod?
« on: March 10, 2006, 08:00:00 PM »

the trouble is with the media check

a regular, retail, game has th emedia check set to run off a pressed dvd-rom, therefore running off an HD would fail and it wouldnt run

the demo has the media check set to run from HD, so it works fine

well if you can put full backups on the old xbox hard drive what is keeping you from doing the same to the new hard drive? If you then just added the code that is in the beginning of demos to the code in the beginning of the backup to bypass security wouldn't that work?

if only it were that simple.

well if it was.. you dont think someone would have done it at some point during the 3-4 months period the consoles been out?

sorry buddy.. but as of  now, its impossible.. You should read the topics in the forums... so many people have asked the same question... and all of those topics were closed, im suprised lord didnt close it when he responded  blink.gif

The Xbox1 Kernel could be edited to allow the running of unsigned code and to ignore media checks.  That's why you replace the BIOS (or load/patch it in memory) when you mod your xbox.

This would invalidate something called the "signature" on the file.  The signature is what says that this file can be run.  If the file is changed in ANY way, the signature becomes invalid and the file will not run.

It's a nice thought, but you have to keep in mind that there's a media check every time the xex is run.  Modifying ANY part of the file in ANY amount will change the file signature and invalidate it.
