Hi. I have a 360 with a BenQ (VAD6038) using iXtreme 1.4 firmware. I want to upgrade to 1.6, however with the new method of using jungleflasher, I'm having trouble recognizing my 360 drive in Windows and with junglepacker. I'm using the same SATA controller I used to flash my 360 to 1.4. My SATA controller is installed and recognized in Windows as "VIA VT6421 Raid Controller".

To begin, I power my computer and 360 system, with the DVD-Rom connected by SATA to my SATA controller, at the same time. I tried it at different time intervals, but no luck. It does not recognize. The SATA controller is recognized by Windows.

JunglePacker shows 4 I/O Ports (2 IDE, 2 SATA) through my VIA VT6421 and none of them show the 360 Drive.

What am I doing wrong? My operating system is Windows 7. Is it because my VT6421 has Raid?

I appreciate the help.

Here's some other information that might help evaluate my problem.

When I plug the 360 DVD-Rom to my motherboard's SATA directly, my motherboard picks up the drive. It's under bios and listed on the startup screen. In Windows, it's listed no where. JungleFlasher does not pick it up either.

I have a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard.

Most likely Windows 7, I would use dos to it and you have a few options IE: DOSFLASH or IPREP or even the new 360 Modification USB Drive v1.6 Revision 4 thats just been released. Alternativly you could create a partition on your hardive and install Windows XP if you want to use windows.

Thanks! I think it worked. I used iprep and got it to flash but how do I know if it worked correctly? My old backups still work but Batman is reading as a movie DVD.

Do I have to flash back to my original firmware or can I go from the 1.4 iXtreme firmware to 1.6 with iPrep?

You only need to restore to factory with Hitachi's.
So no, you can go directly to 1.6.

Thanks Takashi for the quick responses.

Is there any test DVD or method to see if 1.6 installed correctly? If not, what game besides Batman requires 1.6? I want to rule out that my copy of Batman or the disc (the last disc of the spindle) if they are bad. The Batman I have has been fixed with abgx because of an uncertain DMI.

Thank you guys, Takashi and dougiegillam1357.

I got it to work. I just resorted to the traditional method of using dosflash and firmtool in dos. Jungleflasher wasn't picking up my BenQ drive and iPrep, while seeing my VIA card and being on the right I/O port, was not spoofing the key to the CFW firmware. Even though I was in the process of installing a firmware with all 7's as the key, iPrep never got to writing the firmware due to a missing file (newest iPrep - don't know how this can happen from a format/make bootable and getting the status All done.). However, with the file missing and after power cycling the 360 as per iPrep's instructions, it would tell me that the flash was a success. This is why it never installed 1.6.

A bootable usb drive with dosflash and firmtool seems to be all that is required on BenQ's. It's so much easier.

I am having similar issues with my Benq!

I have tried to get it recognised in win 7 and xp with my via 6421 card with jungleflasher and failed. I have now tried the new 360 1.6 disc modification v1.4 and this still won't see the drive even though the bios sees the drive.

I have used this card before for both Benq and Samsungs, can't figure out whats wrong. The drive is flashed with xtreme 1.4 at the moment.

Any help much appreciated.
