Liteon 74850c Invalid Key
« on: August 30, 2009, 10:11:00 AM »

I have read many posts about the liteons and have tried most of the steps but would really appreciate some extra guidance.

lite on dg-16d2s
74850c
I have the ck3 lite serial with probe, via 3249, jungleflasher 0.1.66, ck3tool

First off, i was successfull at loading 2 other drives (non lite on drives) with ix with my current setup. So I know the ports are working correctly.

I did not have the probe to begin with so I attempted to solder with no luck. In the means of soldering, as most others have done, I accidently ripped off the r710 resistor. The r709 resistor is still there but may not be making full contact. After bridging the connections, tried to dump the key with jungle flasher and was getting error "Serial data is Bad. DVDkey files extraction aborted!". The drive properties all show up as normal but still cant dump the key.

So realizing my soldering skills arnt as good as they should be, I purchased the probe in hope that I could still atleast recover the key for the drive. I un soldered all the bridged connections and I stuck the probe in r707 with the tray half open from a manual eject and the green light comes on the probe. Try to dump just the dummy.bin and still get "serial data bad". I have tried with the tray in many different positions, still no luck.

On a side note, my eject on the ck3 is no longer working but I believe its because the r709 resisitor isnt in the right place. But as instructed in another forum, i used the probe on the r709 hole and it does eject.

I have also tried probing the r52 as instructed in another forum and sitll no key.

With jungle flasher 0.1.66 i get the serial data is bad.
With the ck3 tool I get all C's as my key.
I have put the tray in many different locations and still cant dump the key.
Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I really need the key!

Also, if no one can help I wouldn't be oppose to finding someone who could get the key for me.  I have tried just about everything and cant get this key!!!

Under the DVDKey 32 in Jungle Flasher are you making sure you have the proper Com Port selected?

Are you using the USB extractor or are you using the serial port on your PC? If you are not using the USB extractor then make sure you have your serial port activated within your bios.

Yes proper com port is selected. Using serial port and it is working as well.  I have flashed 2 other drives with the same setup but cant get this lite on to work.

While those resistors are not how they should be, Id point the finger at them.

They (iirc) control eject / tray commands - if tray status is open it probably wont work.

good point, but If i touch the probe to the r909 resistor I can make the tray eject or close so the status should be closed.  I will try again some more and see what I come up with.

ok guys please dont give up on me.  I have tried some things, still with no luck.

I have put a wire from r710 to its connection on the power plug and also did the same thing for r709.  My drive now ejects again properly.

I tried using the DVDkey16 in actual DOS and it said no data from com port.  Tried DVDkey32 in MS-Dos (XP) get all CCC's for key.  Jungle flasher and ck3tool still not working.

I have probed r707 all day long with the tray in many different positions and with the tray status both eject and closed, still nothing.  The drive isn't sending the key over r707.  My probe lights green when in r707 but isn't the BRIGHT green which I think is suppose to be.

Do I have some kind of new drive that microsoft has changed so that the key is in a different spot???

I got the xbox back from Microsoft after a warranty repair just a little over a month ago.  It has liteon with firmware version 7485.  Supposively, all I need to do is probe r707 and the key is dump.  But that is not the case with my drive.

Any other steps/ideas?

Just for fun I tried the 83850C steps from http://jungleflasher.net/files/83850c.pdf
with no luck either.  Was just a stab in the dark.

OK, so I bought the maximus kit with spear and still cannot get the r707 port to spit out the key.  maximus probe show the normal green light when powered up but the blue light doesn't come on at all when i probe port r707.  If i probe r709 it does light up.

I have also tried probing port r52 with no blue light either.

So basically, it comes down to no information is being sent over the port r707 on my drive.  Neither the maximus kit nor the ck3 kit will get any info off of that port.

What else can i do??

I have replaced both resistors on r710 and r709 with new 100ohm 1/8 watt resistor.  The drive seems to be functioning normally(ie opening and closing correctly) , but still no information coming out of port r707

looks to me with my limited no how that you dont have the tray in half open or your resitor has gone tits up making the drive think that it is open or closed all time give the r708 hole a shot may work
manualy ejecting tray to half open may help as well http://beta.ivancover.com/wiki/images/7/7d...y_paperclip.jpg

Still at it.  I have tried probing r708 as well, still not getting any information.  I even hooked the drive back up to the xbox, opened and closed it several times with the xbox eject button to verify its status.  The drive still works, just cant get this key off.  Driving me crazy.

Is this method ok:
say I get the tray half open and it still doesn't send out data over r707.  So I turn the drive off through maximus adapter or ck3 kit, move the tray a little and turn back on and try the probe again.

Do I need to unplug the power and sata everytime i move the tray or is turning the power switch on the maximus or ck3 good enough??

Are you sure it was safe to bridge the resistors?

Mate what a saga you've gone through (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Have you tried getting the drive into half-open status by actually using the 360 close button and removing the power from the drive as it's closing? This is described in the Textbook tutorial.

You know this has worked properly when you reconnect the power and the drive does NOT continue closing.

I'd stick with the Maximus Spear my CK3 lite was faulty and the light was always green. (common problem i've heard).

In the end I built my own probe and that was fine.

Also just to confirm, you say the drive is working fine after you repaired the resistors. Does fine mean that it still plays your retail games ok?

Another thing to try to make sure your COM port is fine is to open windows Hyperterminal up and select the com port your using in JF and ensure you get some crappy characters coming through when you touch on a 5V TTL.

Good Luck,
Fed.
