360 Board Will Not Spin Up Any Drive Attached To It?
« on: August 07, 2009, 01:37:00 PM »

Ive got a 360 ive been working on. Thought the liteon drive was fucked, but it works fine when swapped into a different box.

Any drive that i swap into this box, the drives will not spin up on boot, will not eject or open.

Have checked dvd power supply cable, sata connections, everything is good.

This leads me to believe its a 360 main board problem, where do i go from here? What could be the possible problem here. Hate to have to buy a brand new 360, this one seems salvageable as this is its only problem at the moment. Help me save this 360!! haha

Thanks for any and all help guys.

It sure sounds like your motherboard is bad.

I was able to fix one that was having a similar problem. I actually found that a tiny resistor had fallen off the bottom side of the motherboard.

Its a long shot but you could pull the motherboard out and look over the entire board. Concentrate on the area around the dvd drive connector. Look for anything thats missing or burnt looking. I think your probably out of luck.

Also make sure eject button on motherboard is not stuck or damaged. Use a multimeter to test it opens and closes when you press it.
