Drive Bricked, Got Key
« on: August 07, 2009, 11:49:00 AM »

Hi.

My Lite-On drive is bricked, no firmware on it at all. But I did manage to extract the right DVD-key before bricking. The only problem is that I don't got any other files that were made when extracting and attempting to flash.

Is it possible to just buy a new drive, of the same kind, and insert my DVD-key, with iExtreme 1.6,  without any other files(.bins etc.) from the old drive?

Thanks.

here is what I do when this happens. (WHEN I have the files, if files are lost there lost forever)

Using the xtractor  pro, max power dongle or ck3 as the drive power source.

Boot PC with drive connected but powered OFF

Opend JF and laod the SOURCE file, go to MTKflash 32 tab, hit lite-on erase, click the prompts, after last prompt which say to POWER cycle the drive, you jsut simply turn the drive ON, and my PC it will get to vendor mode then get status 0072, then I click write

using a via card, works perfect every time, and I have done this for allot of people who said there drive was bricked

for a 7xxxxx drive, I have done this same thinging using max reader to rebuild lost files using the barcode info on the laser and bottom of the logic board
